Stress
// September 28th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Did You Know
The difference between people who succeed or fail is their ability to handle pressure. Pressure usually magnifies and distorts. However stress is common in everyone’s life. Stress is necessary to fine-tuning life just as tension is necessary to fine-tuning a guitar string. Despite stress, we must try to be free to choose what we know that we know is the next right thing to do. Freedom of choice is the only true freedom we have.

Gentle Strength
// September 21st, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Did You Know
The stronger a person is, the gentler they can afford to be. Jesus says, “Learn of me for I am meek and humble of heart.” (Matt. 11:29) Jesus was not a wimp. He had the strength of steel. Strength is tested by resistance to pressure. This is true of marriage, friendships, and character. The stronger we are in our innermost being and heart, the less need we have of proving who we are and controlling others. Gentleness is a venture of the strong, not one of the weak.

Words of Encouragement
// September 14th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Did You Know
The task ahead of me is never as great as the power behind me.
When the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.
When you get to your wits end, you will find God lives there.
Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.

The Example Of Parents
// September 7th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Did You Know
What a challenge it is to be a parent today. The responsibility of a parent is not to make a child’s decisions, but to let the child watch them make theirs. Parents who punish their children for doing wrong, when they haven’t first taught them to do right, are themselves wrong. Children will not always listen to their parents, but they will always imitate them.

Have You Tied God’s Hands?
// August 31st, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Did You Know
When I limit God I limit myself. When I limit myself I limit God. The dictionary says that to limit means to restrain or tie up. I tie up God’s hands by my sins, fears, doubt, and lukewarmness. God cannot be to me or give me what He longs to be, to give, and say. When I lack an open, clean, and expectant heart, I am my own worse enemy. Therefore I don’t allow or expect much from God. The title of one of Steve Sampson’s books puts it this way: Those Who Expect Nothing Will Never Be Disappointed. The solution? Listen to: Take Your Limits Off God, daily from 9:30pm-10:00pm central.

Are You Stricter Than God?
// August 24th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Did You Know
God created us in his image and likeness. We spend a lifetime trying to return the favor, unfortunately! After we have failed and sinned so many times, how we easily think and feel, “How can God love me? I have failed again. I try and try, but fail and fail. I hate myself. How can I forgive myself? If I were God, I would have flushed me down the tube a long time ago.” If I were God . . . but I am not. My thoughts and feelings pull me to act as though I am . . . a god who has no mercy, no love, no patience, no power, or healing. Am I being stricter than God?! Am I creating Him in my own image, feelings and thoughts?

Through God’s Eyes
// August 17th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Did You Know
The greatest need we have is to see our lives through the eyes of God. This is especially true when bad things are happening to us. This could be in our relationships, health, finances, or in our falling into sin. Why does God permit this to happen? His infinite wisdom tells Him to allow bad things to happen . . . otherwise He would stop them. I find it helpful if I reflect on what possible good reasons God could have. After some reflection, I am amazed at the wisdom of the Lord. He meets my need to grow in surrender and total trust in Him and His promises to take care of me. (Matt 7:7-1Peter 5:7)
