My Writings. My Thoughts.
Lynn Bauman recently attended the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians Conference at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral in LaCrosse Wisconsin. In this program, Lynn shares selections performed by the St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral Choir.
In this program, Lynn Bauman presents music written for the season of Advent. He includes selections from The Dale Warland Singers, Handel’s Messiah, Anuna and more.
With Thanksgiving in mind, Lynn Bauman presents various interpretations of the classic hymn, Te Deum (Thee, O God, we praise).
Te Deum has been in regular use in the Roman Catholic Church for centuries in the Office of Readings found in the Liturgy of the Hours, and in thanksgiving to God for a special blessing such as the election of a pope, the consecration of a bishop, the canonization of a saint, a religious profession, the publication of a treaty of peace, a royal coronation, etc. It is sung either after Mass or the Divine Office or as a separate religious ceremony.
Lynn Bauman takes a bit of a different direction in exploring sacred music. This program is devoted to some of the beautiful instrumental compositions created for liturgical worship.
Be sure to tune in to Radio Maria on Sunday and Tuesday evenings at 5pm central for the broadcasts of Cantate.
Lynn Bauman goes in a little different direction for this episode of Cantate. He departs from more traditional sacred music and takes a look at some of the classic Spirituals. He shares some of the most recognized spirituals from performers such as Mahalia Jackson, Moses George Hogan, Kathleen Battle and Aretha Franklin.
