Lynn Bauman

Director of Music and Organist of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Alexandria, Louisiana, comes to us with over thirty years experience as a church musician. He has served churches in Arkansas and Tennessee, most recently St. Mary’s Catholic Church in downtown Memphis. As the national Music Chair of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers he was responsible for all music publishing and for the set-up of all the National Festivals. Lynn has served as sub-dean of Central Arkansas chapter of the American Guild of Organists where his duties included the program for that Region’s Convention. Lynn is an active member of the National Pastoral Musicians, The Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians, The American Guild of Organists, The Royal School of Church Music, The Association of Anglican Musicians and The American Choral Directors Association. He is a graduate of DeWitt (AR) High School and Henderson State University (Arkadelphia, AR) and has further studied during Sabbatical at Sarum College, Salisbury, UK. A frequent traveler to the UK, since 2000 choirs under Lynn’s direction have sung or rung (handbells) at Lincoln, Canterbury and Salisbury Cathedrals in the UK, served as Choir in Residence for a week’s services at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin IE, and Parish Churches in Taunton and Aldington, UK.


The program Cantate is a look into the different elements of sacred music in the Church. In each program Lynn will spend an hour exploring sacred music and choirs that perform it. Tune in every Tuesday and Sunday from 5-6pm central for this wonderful look at the rich history of music in the Church.
