Bl. Wm. Joseph Chaminade, Founder of The Society of Mary (Marianists) was a holy, gutsy, innovative, highly creative Catholic priest, who was exiled to Saragossa, Spain during the French Revolution. The only title he would accept was Apostolic Missionary whose mission related to him by the Blessed Mother was to rebuild the Catholic Church in France after the French Revolution. Chaminade accomplished this by creating solid experiences in developing small communities of men and women. “Evangelization Through Education” was his mottoand sharing bona fide authentic Catholic experiences. When he returned to France, Blessed Chaminade focused on being an evangelizer of young people, educator, community organizer, developer and builder…what we would dub today as a really forward thinking shaker and mover! His work carries on in Marianist Schools, Universities, Parishes and The Family of Mary Apostolate throughout the world under the Mantle of the Blessed Mother, Maria Duce, bringing souls to Jesus!
“Marianists who teach witness to a life enriched with both human and Christian values. They fulfill their mission by the professional quality and Christian character of all their teaching.” —Marianist Rule of Life
