Francesca Franchina, MS Ed. talks with Director of Development Sister Mary Ann Barnhorn, SN DeNamur of Cincinnati, Ohio about St. Julie Billiart Foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame deNamur founded in 1804 and the ministries of the 1400 Sisters in 11 countries and 34 areas throughout the United States since 1840. Founded in Belgium, as educators of young children in the faith discussion will focus on their growing service in mission. The ongoing vision and purpose of The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in education, and the fruitful ministries that have developed under the mantle of St. Julie in helping men, women and children throughout the world is amazing. Hear about the effects of the martyrdom of Sister Dorothy Stang, SNdeNamur in Brazil in the Amazon which have had a great ripple effect. The Sisters are alive and well, growing and dwelling among the poor throughout the USA and the world. Hear about The Emmaus House in Saginaw, MI, serving women who have no place to go after being released from prison or addiction rehab and other great ministries. Sisters are still adding to their numbers, teaching in grade schools, high schools and Trinity University in Washington, DC and doing God’s work under the mantle of the Blessed Mother in various areas of service and ministry.
