In Part II Joe discussed the holy fatherhood of St. Louis IX and shared a letter, he wrote to his son, providing this evidence, by giving loving and careful instruction on the importance of holiness, proper and just governance and fidelity to the Church of Rome and the Supreme Pontiff as the path to Eternal Salvation.

August 19, 2014 – Grace -Actual & Sanctifying

// August 19th, 2014 // No Comments » // Spirit and Truth Live

Grace is a free gift from God that is necessary for our salvation. Are we responding to it? Grace enlightens the Mind and strengthens the Will. It also makes us friends of God. The amount and frequency of Grace we receive is up to us in how we do or not respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We must always remember that mortal sin (our souls are separated entirely from God) and Sanctifying Grace are incompatible! Living a life in a state of Grace is indispensable for growth in holiness! These are huge stakes, and eternity is on the line. Now is the time to seek the paths of Grace and reap the gifts Our loving Lord has waiting for us.

// August 12th, 2014 // No Comments » // Spirit and Truth Live

What will we do with this golden opportunity to help secure eternal salvation? Today Joe talked about how we ought to prepare for Mass as well as how we ought to attend Mass. Recognizing that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the holiest act of worship we can perform, we must give it nothing less than our best!

Joe hit on a variety of topics today. He discussed our duty to step us as Godparents to talk, pray and sacrifice for the souls of the Godchildren entrusted to our care. He also shared a story about how he had to speak with the father of one of his Godchildren to address a major issue and the challenge that lied therein. He also read and commented upon an article written by Archbishop Lori entitled “Who Matters Most”. It stated that God should matter most in our Lives. Why? Because a life of union (prayer & sacraments) with God is what brings us true peace and joy! Rounding it all out, Joe read a catechetical instruction by St. John Vianney entitled “The glorious duty of man: to pray and to love.” ……….“If you pray and love, that is where a man’s happiness lies!”

Do our actions and use of time clearly demonstrate our commitment and singular focus to follow Christ, grow in virtue and holiness so that we can get to Heaven? Are we praying every day? Are we spending more time praying and serving those entrusted to our care than watching TV or surfing the internet? Why not? What could be more important? We only get one shot at this life, the time is now to step it up and make that change!

// July 22nd, 2014 // No Comments » // Spirit and Truth Live

July 15, 2014 – Daniel Oberreuter, Lead Singer for “The Thirsting”

// July 15th, 2014 // No Comments » // Spirit and Truth Live

Joe and Daniel discussed his upbringing, and his journey to a deeper faith through the most Holy Rosary. After obtaining a degree in Theology, Daniel felt called to start a Catholic Rock Band. It is here, in this ministry, that he brings glory to God using the special gifts and talents he was given. Joe highlighted and played two songs, “Ocean of Mercy” from their first album “Companions of the Lamb” and “Stepping in to the Day” from their second album, “Universal Youth”. The authentic Catholic theology represented in the lyrics is prayerful, introspective, and exciting. Their musical style and sound is reminiscent of many of the bigger mainstream bands over the last twenty years. It is energetic and highly entertaining! July 4, 2014 – Spiritual Tepidity

// July 4th, 2014 // No Comments » // Spirit and Truth Live

Joe discussed the dangers of spiritual tepidity, that halfhearted service to God which brings about spiritual death. The germs of laziness and worldliness will kill our soul. We must be mindful of the great sacrifice our loving Lord made for us in His Passion and Death. Our response ought to be one of enthusiastic loyalty and service to our Lord and His most holy will. At the end of the day, it is our eternal salvation that is at stake and nothing is more important or worth a greater sacrifice. Remember, that greatness’s holiness lies in not simply avoiding evil, but in doing good!

// June 20th, 2014 // No Comments » // Spirit and Truth Live

Joe discussed the trappings of attachments. A common problem we see in the world today. It is through mortification and prayer that this modern form of slavery is overcome and the path to holiness is achieved.
