March 30, 2012 – Final Push of Lent 2012

Joe exhorted the faithful to stay strong in their Lenten fight and to kick it up a notch for Holy Week. He also discussed the profound reality and blessing of the real presence of Christ in the tabernacle and to consciously take advantage of this gift to strengthen our spiritual lives. He finished with a modern day example highlighting the heroic efforts and sacrifices some people make to embrace the Sacraments. Ultimately leading us to ask the question, “How much are you willing to give to be holy?”

 

March 23, 2012 – Health & Human Services Mandate & Catholic Action

Joe started off with a typical hot button issue, that of the HHS Mandate. He challenged the mandate and those politicians involved putting it in to place. He also focused on the role of prayer for conversion, especially prayer focused on our eternal end. As usual during this Lenten season, Joe passionately encouraged the faithful to stay strong in their Lenten resolutions by resisting temptation and frequenting the Sacraments for God’s grace.

March 16, 2012 – Actual Grace & Sanctifying Grace

Joe started off with a typical hot button issue, that of a priest refusing Holy Communion to a parishioner. He further developed St. Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 11: 23-29 to highlight the seriousness of only receiving Holy Communion in a State of Grace.. The second half of the show focused on the explanation of Actual Grace and Sanctifying Grace and how they are central to a life of holiness.

 

March 2, 2012 – Temptation & Confession

Joe discusses the reality of Temptation in our lives and gives reference to St. Thomas’ (Aquinas) explanation of why Christ was tempted. Speaking frankly about the courage required to go to Confession and continually exhorting its frequency, Joe explains how to go to Confession, the actual steps you take in receiving the Sacrament.
