My Writings. My Thoughts.
Joe kicked off today’s show challenging everyone to keep the faith and make this Lent count, bringing honor and glory to God! He went on to explain the Church’s teaching & definition on Fasting & Abstinence. He rounded out the show reflecting upon the gift we have of in the grace of Sacramental Confession, that it not only provides absolution for our sins, but also strengthens our souls beforehand against relapses, offers fortitude to resist future temptations, and helps carry out good resolutions.
Joe kicked off the first Friday in Lent with a blend of Scripture and writings from Divine Intimacy. He focused on Christ’s 40 Days in the desert and how it provides the foundation of our Lenten season. He also discussed our use of “time” and the eternal value inherent therein.
Joe kicked off today’s Show with a recap of the Walk for Life and the insights he gathered from Live Coverage of the Walk in DC and his own West Coast Walk for Life in San Francisco. He then transitioned in to the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, and the First Friday Devotions. Rounding out the program was a kick start to Lent 2013.
Joe kicked off today’s Show with Karen Garnett, the Executive Director for the Catholic Pro-Life Committee based in Dallas Texas, discussing the March for Life 2013. He also interviewed several members of her group, including: Maddy Chance, Elizabeth Grant, Eve Hughey, Conrad Hoover, Peter Dorn, and Fr. Reuben Chen.
Joe and Amy discussed the wonderful opportunities and niches to be found for Catholics in social media. Everything from Catholic motherhood, dating, men’s groups, youth activities, etc. They focused on our duties and obligations in being bold and humble bridge builders for our faith in this arena. They also discussed her future book chronicling the life of St. Leopold.
Joe talked about the real Catholic Christmas Season, one of celebration and joy but also one with a particular focus on our mission to become saints. He also read an excerpt entitled “Discourse for Christmas Night – The Birth of Jesus Christ. Part V “ from St. Alphonsus Liguori.
Joe discussed the beauty of Advent and the opportunity it provides for us to grow in holiness. At the beginning of our Liturgical year, during this time of penance and mortification, now is the time to make our resolutions and elevate our spiritual game! We are called to be Saints, let’s get after it!
Joe mixed it up with Bob & Penny sharing the Truth about the Real Presence: Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. They highlighted the miracle at Lanciano and encouraged all Catholics to embrace this most humble and precious gift of our Lord. As the Saints knew all too well, it is in living out this Truth that is a prerequisite to reach the heights of sanctity. We must follow their example! Go and spend some time with our Lord in Adoration! You will find the Peace you are seeking in your life!
