Pope Francis in the United States

Pope Francis has blessed us with his presence from Monday, September 23rd to Sunday the 27th. It was a time of rejoicing in the Lord. The Vicar of Christ, the Successor of St. Peter, has confirmed the faith of the American people. After visiting Cuba, Pope Francis went to Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia.

In his apostolic trip to the U.S., Pope Francis spoke on many important topics that reiterate the teachings of Christ in Scripture and in the Catholic Church.

At Congress, the Pope touched on many themes including the need for politics to serve the common good, the importance of cooperation and solidarity, the dangers of fundamentalism, the refugee crisis, abolition of the death penalty, the need for courageous acts to avert environmental deterioration, the evils of the arms trade and threats to the family from within and without.

The Holy Father spoke about the dignity of human life and religious liberty. In his address to President Obama at the White House, Pope Francis described American Catholics and all other Americans of goodwill, as people who are committed to building a society which is truly tolerant and inclusive. He remarked on the concern that a “just and wisely ordered society respect” their right to religious liberty.

After this visit, the Holy Father visited the Little Sisters of the Poor who are suing the Obama administration for the right not to comply with the HHS Mandate that demands medical coverage for Abortion, Sterilization and Contraception. Again, at Congress the Pope said that “the Golden Rule reminds us of our responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development.”

Many times, the Holy Father spoke about the family in the context of the Eighth World Meeting of Families taking place in Philadelphia. In the closing celebration of Holy Mass, the Pope spoke about the fundamental nature of marriage: “We renew our faith in the word of the Lord which invites faithful families to this openness. It invites all those who want to share the prophecy of the covenant of man and woman, which generates life and reveals God.”

We cannot forget the Holy Father in his continuous encouragement to bring God’s love to everyone especially to the most in need.

Especially in this month of  October, the month of the Rosary, let us pray the Rosary in the  families.

I want to remind you that we will have the Mariathon from  Monday, October 12th to Friday, October 16th.  Please be as  generous as possible.

We are celebrating 15 years of existence as Radio Maria USA.  It is thanks to your prayers and  sacrifices that we are continuing to bring you prayer and faithful Catholic teaching.  Please save the date.  Let us help Our Lady to help us.   Thank you in advance for your help.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. John Tino

September 29: The Arcangels

The three Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are the only angels named in Sacred Scripture and all three have important roles in the history of salvation.

arcangels

Michael’s name means “who is like God?” Three books of the Bible speak of St. Michael: Daniel, Revelation and the Letter of Jude. In the book of Revelation or the Apocalypse, chapter 12:7-9, we read of a great war that went on in heaven. Michael and his angels battled with Satan. Michael became the champion of loyalty to God. We can ask St. Michael to make us strong in our love for Jesus and in our practice of the Catholic religion.

Gabriel’s name means “the power of God.” He, too, is mentioned in the book of Daniel. He has become familiar to us because Gabriel is an important person in Luke’s Gospel. This archangel announced to Mary that she was to be the mother of our savior. Gabriel announced to Zechariah that he and St. Elizabeth would have a son and call him John. Gabriel is the announcer, the communicator of the Good News. We can ask him to help us be good communicators as he was.

Raphael’s name means “God has healed.” We read the touching story of Raphael’s role in the Bible’s book of Tobit. He brought protection and healing to the blind Tobit. At the very end of the journey, when all was completed, Raphael revealed his true identity. He called himself one of the seven who stands before God’s throne. We can ask St. Raphael to protect us in our travels, even for short journeys, like going to school. We can also ask him to help when illness strikes us or someone we love.

Prayer to all the Archangels

St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael, be with me today. Protect me from whatever could cause spiritual or physical harm. Help me be faithful to Jesus and a good communicator of his divine love. Amen.

Consecration to Jesus through Mary
According to St. Louis Marie de Monfort

presented by Sr. Lucia Vittoria from Mary’s Ark Fraternity

sr. lucia 5  sr. lucia 2

Please join us on Monday, September 28 at 11am ET /10am CT, as we welcome Sr. Lucia Vittoria from Mary’s Ark Fraternity for a special program entitled “Consecration to Jesus through Mary according to St. Louis Marie de Montfort”.

Mary’s Ark Fraternity is a religious community founded in Brazil in 2003. It consists of Brothers, Sisters and lay-people. The confraternity has also had a presence in Italy since 2007, in Portugal since 2008, in Spain since 2008, in Paraguay since 2011, and has begun a small mission in Austria since 2012.

Its charisma is to live and to propagate total consecration to Jesus through the hands of the Blessed Virgin, according to the teachings and spirituality of Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, as emphasized in his famous book entitled “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin”.
Saint Louis Marie de Montfort, a “missionary of the Cross and of the Blessed Virgin”, is the principal patron of the confraternity. In his spiritual school, we wish to develop the love that he had for God, for the Blessed Virgin and for his neighbor.

Like St John Paul II, speaking of total consecration, we recognize that: “This treasure cannot be hidden.” For that reason, we continue to seek ways to render more effective and more fruitful knowledge of this consecration.”

Aware of our smallness, we ask God each day to increase and purify in us the gift of charity, that we might have a genuine love that will make us capable of sacrificing ourselves for others, after the example of St Louis Marie de Montfort.

Please tune in on Monday, September 28th at 11am EST/10am CT for this very special program.

“Chosen soul, living image of God and redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, God wants you to become holy like him in this life, and glorious like him in the next” (SM 3). – St. Louis Marie de Monfort

September 11: Let us Pray for Peace

WTC

Let us Pray For Peace

As we look back on the events that happened today 14 years ago, let us turn to Jesus to console all those in need of consoling and pray that He have mercy on the souls that were lost.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

Month of September: Our Lady of Sorrows Suffering for Her Children

banner fr tino

Dear Friends:

In this month of September, the liturgical calendar celebrates three important feasts, two of which are Marian feasts:

  • September 8: the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

  • September 14: the Exaltation of the Cross

  • September 15: Our Lady of Sorrows

These three feasts close to one another remind us that even though Mary was born to be the Mother of God and sinless, she participated in the sufferings of Christ.

At the very beginning, when Mary and Joseph presented the Baby Jesus in the temple, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed— and a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.” Lk 2:35-36.

At the foot of the Cross, she suffered spiritually with her Son Jesus. Our Lady was spiritually joined to the sufferings of Christ for the salvation of souls.

Radio Maria was born out of the suffering love of Our Lady for all of us, her children. She wants to bring her children to her Son, especially those who are far away from God. Could we help her?

We can help her with our prayers, by receiving the Sacraments and being faithful to Jesus.

His mother said to the servants: Do whatever he tells you” Jn 2:5

We can help Our Lady by giving our financial contribution for her mission to Radio Maria. Please be as generous as possible. We need your donation to continue to help Our Lady bring Jesus to as many children as possible. Please call us or visit our website on how to donate. Our Lady will recompense your generosity.

Thank you for helping Our Lady help us.

Yours in Jesus and Mary,
Fr. John Tino

What Can We Learn Within Our Own Families?

family pic2“Within families, faith becomes a powerful force for unity and love, and inspires a convincing witness to the Gospel. As spiritual mothers and fathers, we bring the Father’s love to our world.” – Pope Francis

World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation

Pope Francis has designated today World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation.  Please join us today as we pray the following throughout the day!

A Christian Prayer in Union with Creation

Pope-Francis-praying

Father, we praise you with all your creatures.
They came forth from your all-powerful hand;
they are yours, filled with your presence and your tender love.
Praise be to you!

Son of God, Jesus,
through you all things were made.
You were formed in the womb of Mary our Mother,
you became part of this earth,
and you gazed upon this world with human eyes.
Today you are alive in every creature
in your risen glory.
Praise be to you!

Holy Spirit, by your light
you guide this world towards the Father’s love
and accompany creation as it groans in travail.
You also dwell in our hearts
and you inspire us to do what is good.
Praise be to you!

Triune Lord, wondrous community of infinite love,
teach us to contemplate you
in the beauty of the universe,
for all things speak of you.
Awaken our praise and thankfulness
for every being that you have made.
Give us the grace to feel profoundly joined
to everything that is.

God of love, show us our place in this world
as channels of your love
for all the creatures of this earth,
for not one of them is forgotten in your sight.
Enlighten those who possess power and money
that they may avoid the sin of indifference,
that they may love the common good, advance the weak,
and care for this world in which we live.
The poor and the earth are crying out.
O Lord, seize us with your power and light,
help us to protect all life,
to prepare for a better future,
for the coming of your Kingdom
of justice, peace, love and beauty.

Praise be to you! Amen.

* Pope Francis published this prayer in his Laudato Si’ encyclical, and is meant for us Christians to ask
for inspiration to take up the commitment to creation set before us by the Gospel of Jesus.

Do You Have a Pure Heart?

Pope Francis says that Following the Rules is Not Enough…
We Must Purity Our Hearts.

Jesus,-cross,-bowing

The exhortation Jesus made in yesterday’s Gospel is a warning for us, if we think that “an exterior observance of the law is sufficient for being a good Christian.”

The Pope drew his commentary from yesterday’s Gospel, from the seventh chapter of Mark, wherein Jesus responds to a rebuke from the Pharisees by telling them, “You disregard God’s commandment but cling to human tradition.”

With these words Jesus wants to put us on guard, don’t you think? [on guard against] thinking that an exterior observance of the law is sufficient for being a good Christian,” the Pope said. “Just like back then for the Pharisees, there is also for us the danger of considering that all is well with us or that we’re better than the others because of the simple fact of observing certain rules or customs, even though we don’t love our neighbor, are hard of heart and proud.”

The literal observance of precepts is sterile if it doesn’t change the heart and if it is not translated into concrete attitudes: opening oneself to the encounter with God and his word, seeking justice and peace, helping the poor, the weak and the oppressed,” he added.

The Holy Father observed that we have all seen the bad effects of “the scandal caused by those people who call themselves very Catholic, who frequently go to church, but then, in their daily lives, don’t take care of their families, speak ill of others, etc.

Jesus’ attention is on something deeper, he explained. Our Lord “emphasizes the primacy of the interior of the ‘heart’: exterior things are not what makes us holy or not holy, but rather the heart that expresses our intentions, our desires and the desire to do everything for love of God.”

The Pontiff said that exterior actions are a consequence of what’s been decided already in the heart, and added that the “border between good and evil does not lie outside of us, but rather within us, in our conscience.”

Pope Francis encouraged an examination of conscience: “We can ask ourselves: Where is my heart? Jesus said, your treasure is where your heart is. What is my treasure? Is it Jesus and his doctrine? My heart is good or my treasure is another thing?”

It is the heart that we must purify and convert. Without a purified heart, we can never have truly clean hands and lips that speak sincere words of love, mercy and forgiveness.”

Vatican City, (ZENIT.org)

“Through prayer, even in the busiest times, we give time back to God.”

POPE FRANCIS, GENERAL AUDIENCE, Wednesday, 26 August 2015

 praying-hands“Dear Brothers and Sisters:

In our continuing catechesis on the family, today we reflect on the importance of devoting time to prayer.  We all know how important prayer is, yet it seems so difficult to find time for it.

Perhaps we need to ask if we truly love God, as he asks us to, with all our heart, and all our mind and all our strength.  For the heart of prayer is the love of God, the source of our life, who constantly “caresses” us with his own love.

A heart filled with the love of God can make even a silent thought or a small gesture of devotion a moment of prayer.  The Holy Spirit teaches us to pray, to call God our Father, and to grow daily in his love.  Our families need to ask for the gift of the Spirit!  Through prayer, even in the busiest times, we give time back to God, we find the peace that comes from appreciating the important things, and we encounter the joy of God’s unexpected gifts.  Through daily prayer may our homes become, like the house of Martha and Mary, places where Jesus always finds a warm welcome.  God bless you all!”

St. Philomena

St. Philomena

Saint Philomena (fil-o-ME-na) was conceived only after her parents converted to Christianity on the promise that they would finally conceive and bear a child. At a very young age, she had consecrated herself to be a virgin for life, forever a bride of Christ. At age 13, Philomena came from Greece to Rome with her parents on official business to ask something of the emperor Diocletian. The emperor fell into obsessive lust with Philomena, and asked to marry her. She refused, much to the disapproval of everybody, even her parents, because she rejected even the richest, most powerful man in the world because she had long ago desired to remain a virgin, and intended to remain a bride of Christ.

After many refusals, Diocletian had it. He then ordered her to be scourged as Our Lord was. He threw her into jail for over a month, starved and cold, and every day the evil emperor would come and try to tempt her into marrying him. Every time she refused. After his patience had worn thin, and he fully realized that she was just one open wound from the scourging, he ordered her to be tied to an anchor and drowned. It didn’t work, she lived. Then she was stood in front of a firing squad and was shot through with arrows. Again, she healed and was still alive. After both of these ordeals, he still persisted in his obsession and asked for her hand in marriage. In a bout of anger, Diocletian finally had Philomena beheaded, and in the year 304 she went to heaven to be with her spouse. The early Catholics had her buried in the catacombs, with a vial of her blood.

She was somehow forgotten. In 1802, however, her grave was discovered, and an explosion of miracles ensued. Basically all of her life’s story was revealed through revelations by her to four or five different people, all very far away from each other. Many Popes and Saints, notably St. John Vianney, fostered great devotion to Philomena. Since no historical record accounts for her martyrdom or life, Philomena remains the only Saint in all of Church history to ever be canonized solely on the basis of her miraculous intercession!

Her specialties could be anything, but are most notably things concerning mothers, children, teenagers, and she has also been hailed as a modern day St. Jude.

What is most fascinating about dear Philomena is that for so many years, she lay silent, as if God has saved her powerful intercession especially for our most recent generations.

St. Philomena, Pray For Us…

O FAITHFUL VIRGIN and glorious martyr, St. Philomena, who works so many miracles on behalf of the poor and sorrowing, have pity on me. Thou knowest the multitude and diversity of my needs. Behold me at thy feet, full of misery, but full of hope. I entreat thy charity , O great Saint! Graciously hear me and obtain from God a favorable answer to the request which I now humbly lay before thee … (Here specify your petition.) I am firmly convinced that through thy merits, through the scorn, the sufferings and the death thou didst endure, united to the merits of the Passion and death of Jesus, thy Spouse, I shall obtain what I ask of thee, and in the joy of my heart I will bless God, who is admirable in His Saints. Amen

Month of August: The Immaculate Heart of Mary

The Immaculate Heart of Mary

immac heart of mary

During the month of August, traditionally dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary we want to entrust ourselves to our Lady’s Heart. Her Heart leads to the rest we can find in God alone.

Some saints have described Mary as the paradise of God. It is in her Immaculate Heart that we can rest with God, living in that paradise we are all looking for.

This summer, we might be looking for the perfect vacation to find rest, joy and peace. What good is all that. Let us not forget that God is the source of all that is good which our hearts long for.

We can find a beautiful landscape or a mountain and great people to be with. Nature is God’s home. There we find the beauty of God’s creation.

There is much peace and healing for our souls. We can enjoy creation and all that God gives us only when we open our hearts to God as in any great relationships.

Only in our relationship with God we find meaning in our lives and in what we do. Our Lady helps us to find God in our lives. This summer let us ask Our Lady to help us rest with God so that we can truly enjoy the gift of God in nature and in one another. I pray that with Radio Maria you are led to rest in God through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the paradise of God.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. John Tino

New Program: Spirituality of Fatherhood

Padgett, Chris and Family

Musician, author and national speaker Chris Padgett has been a longtime friend of Radio Maria. You might recall his previous program, Joyful Desperation.

Now, Chris has a new program… fittingly called Spirituality of Fatherhood. He and his wife, Linda met in high school and have been in love ever since. Together they have raised nine children! He converted to Catholicism from Protestantism and has been eager to share his faith with others.

In his new program, Chris plans to share his journey as a son, husband and father. He looks at the beauty and importance of fatherhood, both in its application to marriage and family. Spiritual growth for fathers necessarily impacts and benefits their spouse and children.

Some of the topics that he will be sharing with us are: Need for Heroic Fathers; Loving Your Spouse; Fatherly Discipline, Open to Life: Discussing NFP; Fathers and Finances; Fathers and Spiritual Protectors; Fatherhood of St. Joseph…and so much more.

Tune in on Wednesdays at 3:00pm ET / 2:00pm CT to hear Chris take us through his journey. You can call in to Chris Padgett’s program when it is live by calling toll free, 1-866-333-MARY(6279).

The Eucharist is the Perfection of the Spiritual Life

In a world in which we are searching for spirituality or to be spiritual, let us go to the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. “It is the Eucharist the perfection of the spiritual life” as St. Thomas Aquinas states.  CCC 1374

Jesus nourishes our spiritual life… not Yoga, New Age practices, Tai Chi, Reiki, horoscopes and other forms of occult powers that are devilish. Unfortunately, many are looking to find peace and healing in these forms, as well as others.  But only Jesus can give us true peace and healing of mind, body and soul.

The Gospels show us that. Today, in the Church, Jesus continues to give us life and life to the fullest. Jesus said: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day.” Jn. 6:54. Amen.

Message from the Director: “My Spirit Finds Joy in God the Saviour..”

banner fr tino

Dear Friends,

My spirit finds joy in God my Saviour” Lk 1:47

The summer months are an opportunity to take some time for vacation and rest, even though for some, it is not possible. However, in order to rest you do not to go far away, if you cannot afford it. You can enjoy nearby places that offer you the possibility to enjoy God’s creation with the beautiful flowers, trees, grass and birds. Nature is God’s home.

At the same time, we have the gift of one another. It is essential to spend quality time with those near us and friends. They remind us that God is with us. They are a gift to us. God lives in them. Relationships can deepen and be fortified in God’s love.

But all this would not have any value or meaning without God. Take time to pray and read the Bible or a spiritual book. To rest is to rest with God, who gives us joy. This summer take time to be with Him who loves you, and in that love you can enjoy the gift of those around you, the gift of nature to find joy in God.

Blessings,
Fr. John Tino

The Medal and Cross of St. Benedict

St. Benedict

The Power and Effects of the Medal & Cross of St. Benedict

The Medal and Cross of St. Benedict are powerful to ward off all dangers of body and soul coming from the evil spirit. We are exposed to the wicked assaults of the devil day and night. St. Peter says, “Your adversary the devil, as roaring lion, go about seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). In the life of St. Benedict we see how the devil tried to do harm to his soul and body, and also to his spiritual children. Father Paul of Moll, saintly Flemish Benedictine wonder-worker (1824-1896), frustrated the evil doings of the spirit of darkness chiefly through the use of the Medal of St. Benedict, which has proved a most powerful protection against the snares and delusions of the old enemy. Missionaries in pagan lands use this Medal with so great effect that it has been given the remarkable name, “The devil-chasing Medal.”

Consecration to the Blood of Jesus Christ

Consecration to the Blood of Jesus Christ

Consecration Blood - Blank

Lord Jesus, you who love us and have freed us from our sins with your Blood, I adore you, I bless you and I consecrate myself to you with living faith.

By the help of your Spirit, I desire to make all my existence, animated by the memory of your Precious Blood, into a faithful service of the will of God, for the coming of your Kingdom.

Through the Blood which you shed for the remission of sins, purify me of all sin and renew my heart, so that the image of a new person, created in justice and holiness may become ever more evident in me.

By your Blood, which is the sign of reconciliation with God and reconciliation with each other, make me a malleable instrument of brotherly love and communion.

By the power of your Blood, supreme proof of your mercy, give me the courage to love you and to love my brothers and sisters, even to the point of offering my life.

Jesus, my Redeemer, help me to carry your cross every day, in order that a drop of my blood, united with yours, may contribute to the redemption of the world. O Divine Blood, which together with your grace gives life to the Mystical Body, making me a living stone in the Church.

Give me an ardent desire for Christian unity. Infuse my heart with a great zeal for the salvation of my brother and sisters. Raise up in the Church numerous missionary vocations, so that all people may know, love and serve the true God.

Most Precious Blood, sign of liberation and of new life, grant that I may persevere in faith, in hope and in love, so that, having been chosen by you, I may leave this exile and enter the promised land of Paradise, to sing my praise to you with all those whom you have chosen. Amen.

Message from the Director: Month of July Dedicated of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ

banner fr tino

The month of July is traditionally dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. The feast of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord was instituted in 1849 by Pope Pius IX. We are reminded that by the shedding of His Precious Blood, Christ saved mankind from our sins. “For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured for many, for the forgiveness of sins.” Mt. 26:28. The Precious Blood of Jesus cleanses us from our sins. In the Sacrament of Penance, we are forgiven of our sins through the absolution of the priest. How powerful it is that we are restored to the supernatural life of grace.

The early Fathers say that the Church was born from the pierced side of Christ, and that the sacraments were brought forth through His Blood. “But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once, there came out blood and water.” Mt. Jn. 19:34. The Blood from the pierced side of Christ symbolizes the Precious Blood in the Most Holy Eucharist.

We wish to invoke the Blood of Jesus on ourselves, the sick and suffering, and the whole family of Radio Maria. We ask the Lord to protect us from all evil. The Blood of Jesus has the power to protect us, and lead us to the life of grace in Christ, in particular through the Sacraments. We ask the Lord to wash us clean in our mission of Radio Maria. We want to be faithful to our calling as a family, to our identity of a Radio that brings prayer, Christian and Human formation, News and Music in the lives of people.

It is Our Lady’s Radio and she wants to continue to lead us to Her Son Jesus who has poured out his Precious Blood for us.

Prayer in Honor of St. John the Baptist

Today, on the feast day of St. John the Baptist, let us pray in his honor.

St john the baptist

O Martyr invincible, who, for the honor of God and the salvation of souls didst with firmness and constancy withstand the impiety of Herod even at the cost of thine own life, and didst rebuke him openly for his wicked and dissolute life; by thy prayers obtain for us a heart, brave and generous, in order that we may overcome all human respect and openly profess our faith in loyal obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ, our divine Master.

Say: “Our Father…”, “Hail Mary…”, and “Glory be…”

Pray for us, Saint John the Baptist, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

O God, who hast made this day to be honorable in our eyes by the commemoration of blessed John the Baptist, grant unto Thy people the grace of spiritual joy, and direct the minds of all Thy faithful into the way of everlasting salvation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer Written by St. John Paul II for Radio Maria

“Mary, guide us in our major decisions
and give us strength in times of trial
so that we may, with humble courage,
follow the hidden ways of Heaven,
keeping faith with God and mankind
so that we can bring the joyful message
of Christ, the Savior,
to the hearts and minds of all.

Mary, guiding star of evangelization,
be with us. Be with Radio Maria
as guide and be its protector.”

Father’s Day Prayer

The family of Radio Maria would like to wish all the fathers a blessed Father’s Day.

stjosephjesus
God our Father,
you govern and protect your people
and shepherd them with a father’s love.
You place a father in a family
as a sign of your love, care,
and constant protection.
May fathers everywhere be faithful
to the example shown in the Scriptures:
steadfast in love, forgiving
transgressions, sustaining the family,
caring for those in need.
Give your wisdom to fathers
that they may encourage and
guide their children.
Keep them healthy
so they may support a family.
Guide every father
with the Spirit of your love
that they may grow in holiness
and draw their family ever closer to you.  Amen

God is Merciful

In the 1930s, the Lord spoke to a young Polish nun, St. Faustina Kowalska about His Divine Mercy. St. Faustina started to spread the devotion to Divine Mercy. It is a reminder that God is merciful and forgiving to all of us.
The Lord has given to us, through St. Faustina, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy”

divine-mercy

(Repeat 3 times) O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
Our Father, Hail Mary and the Apostle’s Creed

For each of the five decades (On each “Our Father” bead of the rosary, pray)

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

(On each of the 10 “Hail Mary” beads, pray)

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Concluding prayer (Repeat 3 times)

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Below are some of the messages from Jesus:

“Oh, what great graces I will grant to souls who say this chaplet (…) Write down these words, My daughter. Speak to the world about My mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fount of My mercy; let them profit from the Blood and Water which gushed forth for them” (Diary, 848).

“Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it, they will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy” (Diary, 687).

“It pleases Me to grant everything souls ask of Me by saying the chaplet. When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a happy one. Write this for the benefit of distressed souls; when a soul sees and realizes the gravity of its sins, when the whole abyss of the misery into which it immersed itself is displayed before its eyes, let it not despair, but with trust let it throw itself into the arms of My mercy, as a child into the arms of its beloved mother (…). Tell them no soul that has called upon My mercy has been disappointed or brought to shame. I delight particularly in a soul that has placed its trust in My goodness. Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior” (Diary, 1541).

Jesus Said to His Disciples…Love Your Enemies

Jesus said (NEW)

Jesus said to His Disciples:

“You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” — Gospel MT 5:43-48

God seeks our highest good and teaches us to seek the greatest good of others, even those who hate and abuse us. Our love for others, even those who are ungrateful and selfish towards us, must be marked by the same kindness and mercy which God has shown to us. It is easier to show kindness and mercy when we can expect to benefit from doing so. How much harder when we can expect nothing in return. Our prayer for those who do us ill both breaks the power of revenge and releases the power of love to do good in the face of evil.

How can we possibly love those who cause us harm or ill-will? With God all things are possible. He gives power and grace to those who believe and accept the gift of the Holy Spirit. His love conquers all, even our hurts, fears, prejudices and griefs. Only the cross of Jesus Christ can free us from the tyranny of malice, hatred, revenge, and resentment and gives us the courage to return evil with good. Such love and grace has power to heal and to save from destruction. Do you know the power of Christ’s redeeming love and mercy?

God gives us every good gift in Jesus Christ so that we may not lack anything we need to do his will and to live as his sons and daughters (2 Peter 1:3). He knows our weakness and sinfulness better than we do. And he assures us of his love, mercy, and grace to follow in his ways. Do you want to grow in your love for God and for your neighbor? Ask the Holy Spirit to change and transform you in the image of the Father that you may walk in the joy and freedom of the Gospel.

“Lord Jesus, your love brings freedom and pardon. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and set my heart ablaze with your love that nothing may make me lose my temper, ruffle my peace, take away my joy, nor make me bitter towards anyone.”

Quote of the Saints: “Jesus, I Adore You…”

Corazón de Jesús“Every time I hear anyone speak of the Sacred Heart  of Jesus or of the Blessed Sacrament I feel an indescribable joy. It is as if a wave of precious memories, sweet affection and joyful hope swept over my poor person, making me tremble with happiness and filling my soul with tenderness. These are loving appeals from Jesus who wants me wholeheartedly there, at the source of all goodness, his Sacred Heart, throbbing mysteriously behind the Eucharistic veils… I love to repeat today ‘Sweet Heart of my Jesus, make me love you more and more.”’  –Pope Saint John XXIII

Jesus said to them,
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood,
you have no life in yourselves.”
“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
“For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.”
“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.”
“As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me,

The Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Starts Today!

Novena Remind

Novena Prayer

Divine Jesus, You have said, “Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” Behold me kneeling at Your feet, filled with a lively faith and confidence in the promises dictated by Your Sacred Heart to Saint Margaret Mary. I come to ask this favor: Mention your request).

To whom can I turn if not to You, Whose Heart is the source of all graces and merits? Where should I seek if not in the treasure which contains all the riches of Your kindness and mercy? Where should I knock if not at the door through which God gives Himself to us and through which we go to God? I have recourse to You, Heart of Jesus. In You I find consolation when afflicted, protection when persecuted, strength when burdened with trials, and light in doubt and darkness.

Dear Jesus, I firmly believe that You can grant me the grace I implore, even though it should require a miracle. You have only to will it and my prayer will be granted. I admit that I am most unworthy of Your favors, but this is not a reason for me to be discouraged. You are the God of mercy, and You will not refuse a contrite heart. Cast upon me a look of mercy, I beg of You, and Your kind Heart will find in my miseries and weakness a reason for granting my prayer.

Sacred Heart, whatever may be Your decision with regard to my request, I will never stop adoring, loving, praising, and serving You. My Jesus, be pleased to accept this my act of perfect resignation to the decrees of Your adorable Heart, which I sincerely desire may be fulfilled in and by me and all Your creatures forever.

Grant me the grace for which I humbly implore You through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother. You entrusted me to her as her child, and her prayers are all-powerful with You. Amen.

Offering

My God, I offer You all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings in union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, for the intentions for which He pleads and offers Himself in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in thanksgiving for Your favors, in reparation for my sins, and in humble supplication for my temporal and eternal welfare, for the needs of our holy Mother the Church, for the conversion of sinners, and for the relief of the poor souls in purgatory.

Mary Leads Us to Jesus

banner fr tino

As we begin the month of June, traditionally dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we continue to stay close to Mary, our Mother, who leads us to Jesus her Son.

St. Margaret is known for spreading the devotion to Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in the world. She was a French nun who joined the Visitation Order in 1671. In 1675, as she knelt in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, Our Lord said to her: “See this Heart which is so deeply in love with men that it has spared nothing, to the point of wearing itself out and consuming itself, to prove to them its love. And in return, for the most part, it receives only ingratitude through their irreverence, and through the coldness and contempt which they have for me in this Sacrament of love… It is for this that I am asking you that the first Friday, after the Octave of Corpus Christi be set apart as a feast in honor of my Heart – a day on which to receive me in Holy Communion and make a solemn act of reparation…”

The Sacrament of Love is the Most Holy Eucharist. We do not want to show any ingratitude to His Body and Blood in the Most Holy Eucharist. The best way to prepare ourselves to receive Holy Communion is through a worthy Confession.

Let us open our hearts to Jesus present in the Most Holy Eucharist.

Marian Prayer of Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Give us a heart as beautiful,
pure, and spotless as yours.
A heart like yours, so full of
love and humility.

May we be able to receive
Jesus as the Bread of Life,
to love Him as you loved Him,
to serve Him under the
mistreated face of the poor.

We ask this through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.

and at the hour of my death,
I commend my soul and body;
to thee I entrust all my hopes
and consolations, all my

Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit to Touch Us

St. Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians, that as the Holy Spirit dwells in each of us (1 Cor 3:16), it is crucial for our salvation that we listen to Him.

Our Lord indeed wants us to ask for His help and guidance through His Spirit. But, given our free will, He will not force Himself on us. We must choose to follow Christ on His path of sanctifying grace. St. Paul’s words to the Galatians (Gal 5:19-26) provide a good itinerary for this journey: we must avoid immorality, jealousy, hatred, selfishness, quarrels and the like.

For the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, we need to have the opposite emotions such as love, patience, kindness, generosity and self-control, even in difficult situations.

Mary pentecost“O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, didst promise to send the Holy Ghost to finish Thy work in the souls of Thy Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me, that He may perfect in my soul the work of Thy grace and Thy love.
Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal,
the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Thy divine truth,
the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven,
the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with Thee, and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation,
the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints,
the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable,
the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God, and may dread in any way to displease Him.
Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Thy true disciples and animate me in all things with Thy Spirit. Amen.”

Our Lady Wants to Speaks to Us Through Radio Maria

banner fr tino

Dear friends,

In this month of May, let us thank Our Lady, our Mother, for giving us the gift of Radio Maria. In this time of grace, Our Lady wants to talk to us through Radio Maria. She continues to lead us to Jesus her Son when she says “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5).

During our Spring Mariathon 2015, we are encouraged and inspired by many of you who have renewed your commitment to Radio Maria with your prayers, generosity and the help of many volunteers. You believe in the mission of Radio Maria in the Church. You help the Blessed Mother do the work of her Son. Thank you.

I strongly urge those of you who have not yet committed themselves, to help Radio Maria with your financial contribution to make that act of love. Help the Blessed Mother to help us. We are waiting for you.

Let us pray for the success of this Mariathon in order to help our Blessed Mother to lead more people to Jesus.

Blessings,
Fr. John Tino

A Message from the Director: Mariathon 2015

banner fr tino

The month of May is the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let us renew our love for Our Lady, by entrusting ourselves to Her, our mother. As a good mother, she leads us to Jesus, her Son. Let us renew our beautiful tradition to pray the Rosary. Through the prayer of the Rosary, we meditate on the mysteries of the life of Jesus and we are inspired to imitate Him by bringing His love and peace to others.

Next week, all 74 Radio Maria’s worldwide on 5 continents, will have the great event of the Mariathon. It is a special moment to renew our zeal and love in our mission of Evangelization and Human formation in the world. Here at Radio Maria USA, beginning on Monday, we are asked to recommit ourselves for this worldwide mission through our prayers and generosity. We will end the Mariathon with the celebration of a worldwide Mass. Our Lady needs us to evangelize. Let us help Her. Thank you for your continued dedication and support.
