During this program Deacon Bob takes a hard and realistic look at the difficult trials, tribulations and persecutions we face in the world today, and presents a case based on scripture and the message of Fatima for celebrating them as opportunities to defeat the Devil and transform the world.
An overview of the movie “Little Boy” is presented by Deacon Bob during this program. He draws a comparison between the faith, hope, love and perseverance of the little 8-year-old star of the movie to that of the three shepherd children of Fatima with an eye toward encouraging everyone to “become like little children” as we must if we are to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In addition, the practice of the Corporal Works of Mercy which are the object of the little 8-year-old in the movie are an excellent example of ways in which we can embrace the trials and inconvenience of their performance as reparation for sin in the context of Our Lady’s Fatima requests.
During this program Deacon Bob tells the story of the death of a close friend’s nephew which illustrates the importance of Godmothers, Godfathers and Confirmation Sponsors in the lives of those they sponsor, and reminds us of the seriousness of the obligations we take upon ourselves when we serve in these capacities. He points out that, in addition to praying for those we sponsor, we are frequently obligated to “admonish the sinner.” The story is a profound reminder for all of us.

The tremendous power and value in the lives of the aged and infirm in assisted living facilities and nursing homes all across the country and around the world is the focus of this week’s program. Deacon Bob calls to attention the tragic dispositions of so many elderly and infirm that their lives are no longer of any value, that they are nothing but a burden and that there is really no point in living any more. He suggests that such dispositions need to be eliminated and that these people can be convinced of the enormous value of their lives through Our Lady’s Message of Fatima. He suggests that even a mere handful of these people has more power to affect change in the world than all the rest of us physically healthy and vibrant people put together through a program of The World Apostolate of Fatima, USA called “Goldmines of Reparation.” He explains how it might be used by anyone to bring about this change and unlock an enormous potential which is so desperately needed in the world today.
Contained in The Boy Scout Promise are 5 words which provide a remedy to the reluctance on the part of many to commit to the practice of the Fatima Devotions Our Lady has ask for. Reminding us that the Triumph of The Immaculate Heart of Mary will not occur until sufficient numbers of us make and fulfill such commitment, and that the proliferation of evil in the world today because of its delay is, in large measure, a consequence of our failure to do so, Deacon Bob urges us to consider these 5 words from The Boy Scout Promise, to ask Our Lady for the grace we need, to make a commitment and carry it out, and finally, to urge others to do the same.
During this program Deacon Bob discusses the tremendous emphasis Our Lady placed on praying the rosary every day, and our dependence on Our Lady of the Rosary for world peace.
In addition, he explains the “liturgical nature” of the rosary and offers some considerations for those who have abandoned it because they find it monotonous.
In today’s program Deacon Bob suggests a 2015 New Year’s Resolution as he invites all to become “Burning Bushes for the 21st Century” by drawing a correlation between the Old Testament account of Moses encounter with the “Burning Bush” on Mt. Horeb, the “Christ Child” laying in the manger at Bethlehem, and the “Light which shines in the darkness” in the prologue to the Gospel of St. John.
In this episode Deacon Bob tells a heartwarming story of a Christmas some years ago which exemplifies the practical application or the living of the virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Joy, Compassion, Empathy, Generosity, and belief in the power of prayer on the part of its characters. These are all virtues to which the message of Our Lady of Fatima calls each of us to cultivate in the living of our own lives.
A very blessed and merry Christmas to you, your family and everyone at Radio Maria!
