He also explained the forgotten tradition of “Churching” (in imitation of Our Lady’s Purification), whereby a thanksgiving of the mother to God is given during this ritual. Here a new mother obtains a special blessing and receives graces to raise their child in a manner pleasing to God. It is also common to seek a special patron for their child during this ceremony (i.e. Our Lady, St. Anthony of Padua, etc.)
