Are abortion, contraception, and “same-sex marriage” the irreversible result of inevitable “progress”? Or is it possible to “turn back the clock” by turning back to God?
Our Guest this week is Dr Dominick Pedulla from Oklahoma City, where he is a highly respected varicose vein surgeon board certified in cardiology, internal medicine and vein surgery. Dr Pedulla also has a long history of interest in natural family planning and the harmful impact of unnatural birth control methods on mothers and children. This interest prompted him and three other physicians (one also a priest) to thoroughly review the Plan B literature to discern if and when Plan B operated as an abortifacient.
Their study was prompted by bishops in several countries approving the use of Plan B in Catholic hospitals to treat women who had been raped. The intent of such use is to prevent an obviously unplanned conception, realizing that children conceived in rape are at high risk of being aborted. Drs Pedullah, Peck, Kahlenborn and Velez were suspicious about the literature claiming that Plan B has no abortifacient effect. The similarity between hormonal birth control (with its admitted potential for acting as an abortifaciant) and the hormones in Plan B made it seem likely that Plan B would act as an abortifacient at least some of the time.
Plan B is now available over the counter (without prescription) to women 17 or older. Several concerns are apparent: What are the health risks for the woman taking Plan B? How does it work? Ever as an abortifacient? Are women/couples leaning toward a Plan B approach to birth control to avoid the constant pollution of their bodies that characterizes other methods of hormonal birth control?
Steve’s guest in this program is Mike O’Dea of the Christus Medicus Foundation. Mike is an expert on Catholic Health Care and and health care insurance plans. Steve and Mike talk about the Health Care Law and especially about the mandatory insurance requirement and options that may be available for avoiding the contraception, sterilization and abortion mandates.
Steve Koob’s Guest for this program is Dr. Charles Kenney, PhD, founder and president of “The Right Brain People”. He was our Guest on the Quest two weeks ago when he described how he has used his research on the brain (left side reasoning, right side emotioning) to help over 400 of America’s most successful companies market their image and products. He has also applied these same skills to help the pro-life movement convince abortion vulnerable women to choose life. He is fascinating!
Steve and Dr. Kenny talk about the HHS Mandate requiring all health insurance to cover contraception, sterilization and abortion. They delve into the now fully “evolved” same sex “marriage” issue. Dr. Kenny also discusses his ideas for effectively confronting both of these threats to a well ordered society and a Culture of Life.

In this program, Drs Phillip and Bruce will tell us how they came to “go against the grain” of their profession and how it affects them, their families and patients.Drs Phillip McNeeley and Bruce Gfeller are half of a four-physician family practice called Holy Family Medical Associates, part of Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center. What is fairly unique about the physicians and staff at Holy Family is their commitment to health care that is fully in compliance with Catholic Church teaching. For over 10 years they have been joyfully serving the Lincoln community by promoting NFP and Natural Procreative Technologies, without dispensing, prescribing, or referring for birth control, sterilization or abortion.
Steve Koob talks with Dr. Chris Kahlenborn, author of Breast Cancer: Its Link to Abortion and the Birth Control Pill, about his book and research on how and why breast cancer is preventable, and how abortion and the birth control pill greatly increase a woman’s risk.
Steve Koob talks with Mike O’Dea, founder of the Christus Medicus Foundation, about Catholic hospitals and their practices, the Christus Medicus Foundation, and legislation that threatens the right to practice health care according to Catholic teaching. Mike O’Dea explains that health insurance that does not cover abortion, contraception, and/or sterilization is possible.
