Meet Our Core Team – Danny Brou

danny brou

As the broadcast engineer for the southern region, Danny Brou oversees the maintenance and operation of the transmitters sites in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi.

Danny has been with Radio Maria the longest of all of the staff and was even involved in the early setup of Radio Maria before the first station ever went on the air.

Danny brings his many years of experience and wisdom to help keep Radio Maria broadcasting. We are so grateful that Danny is always there to give of his time and knowledge to bring Our Lady’s radio to as many people as possible.

Meet Our Core Team – Frank Hare

Frank HareFrank has been with Radio Maria since it’s early days. He was introduced to Radio Maria in late 2000 when there was a need for someone to fill in for a departing employee within a short time. Frank comes from a long background of radio having grown up spending many hours in and around radio stations with his father, a broadcast engineer.

Before beginning his work at Radio Maria, Frank was heavily involved in ministry teams in the diocese of Alexandria volunteering his knowledge of sound equipment and recording, a work he continues to this day.

As the Production Manager, Frank oversees the production department and all of the technical and logistical work that goes into getting the radio signal from the microphones to the radio transmitters. Frank’s work also extends into all things technical in the workings of Radio Maria. Whether is be building and maintaining the website, repairing computers and equipment or changing light bulbs, Frank is always there to help Our Lady’s radio in any way he can.

World Family Mariathon

World Family Mariathon

The World Mariathon, organised by the World Family of Radio Maria Association (www.radiomaria.org), is scheduled to take place from the 10th to 12th of May. It will involve listeners of Radio Maria stations worldwide in the evangelising mission that has characterised this Catholic broadcasting station for more than twenty five years.

It will be an important radio event with a special continental and world programming schedule to inform listeners of the new projects that the World Family has launched around the world. The opportunity will be provided to support them through offerings and donations according to the methods provided by the individual broadcasting stations or directly on the event’s website (www.mariathon.org).

“We are entrusted with a great responsibility: to spread the evangelical message and develop the Radio Maria projects worldwide. The idea of the World Mariathon came up during the World Convention in Collevalenza last October. It is a spiritual and editorial event targeted at the birth of 11 new radio stations in Europe, Africa and Asia”
– Fr. Livio Fanzaga and Emanuele Ferrario

The eleven nations which will soon become home to a Radio Maria station are:

  • AFRICA: Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria and the Republic of Guinea
  • AMERICA: Haiti
  • ASIA: China (Macao) and India
  • EUROPE: Ireland and Latvia
  •

To open a Radio Maria station in one of these 11 countries assumes an added value for both Radio Maria and the Universal Church, since the Christian population is a small minority. It is an ambitious initiative which has a wide-reaching social, even before Christian, value. The event will serve as an aggregator for all the 64 member radios, for a broadcasting station which reaches almost half a billion people worldwide.
