John McDonald, director of Catholic education at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Birmingham, president of John Carroll Catholic High School, and associate pastor at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church–ie. busy! Fr. John speaks of the immeasurable value of the inner life and how to cultivate it in both adults and in the youth. In April of 2005, while Fr. John was still in the seminary, he was called upon to read the second reading during the funeral mass of Pope John Paul II. It was at this moment when the whole world heard his special South Alabama accent.
