November 10, 2014:
“For all, regenerated in Christ, are made kings by the sign of the cross; they are consecrated priests by the oil of the Holy Spirit, so that beyond the special service of our ministry as priests, all spiritual and mature Christians know that they are a royal race and are sharers in the office of the Priesthood.”
St. Leo the Great
“May your life be nothing but a continuous act of the Will of God.”

Ken talks with Fr John Bartunek author of “Seeking First the Kingdom: 30 Meditations on How to Love God with All Your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength” and “The Better Part: A Christ-Centered Resource for Personal Prayer” (both available from Catholic Word) “Seeking First the Kingdom” was written to help those pursuing Christ to take the next step in spiritual maturity. By identifying four core areas of your relationship with God (heart, soul, mind, and strength) Fr. John Bartunek helps determine what areas you’re stuck in.
With “The Better Part” Fr. Bartunek has created an extensive, Christ-centered resource to serve as a daily meditation companion. If we desire to become saints, we must spend time daily in meditation. The resource is a Bible study on the four Gospels, a survey of saints’ writings, a guide to prayer that enables us to read, meditate, absorb and apply the Gospels to our lives, and it serves as a catalyst to personalize times of prayer, enabling us to follow the Holy Spirit’s lead along the path of holiness.

Although St. Teresa of Avila said she was NOT a writer, she has a compilation of writings that would dwarf many an author today. Special guest, Lisa LaRosa, tells us about St. Teresa’s writing starting with an early novel as well as her four most famous major works. Additionally, St. Teresa’s minor works cover a vast terrain from biblical commentary to post-communion reflections and meditations, to spiritual challenges, satire, poems, instructional works, and more. Her personal letters, of which 468 were found, covered the years 1546-1582. We get a candid look at St. Teresa’s personal thoughts and expressions and concerns as well as gems of wisdom that are very applicable to our lives today. We begin with some of the early letters and will continue the series throughout the year highlighting some of the letters with the most notable points. St. Teresa, pray for us!
