Put God First. Jesus must be our Love, our Teacher, and our Guide.

Happy New Year!!!    We are so excited about this coming year for you, our Radio Maria Family, and for Radio Maria USA and all that God has planned for 2015!  Did you know that Radio Maria is the largest Catholic radio in the world?  We are in over 70 countries on all continents and GROWING!  This would not be possible without YOU!!!  So many conversions are happening through Radio Maria and we invite you to grow deeper in your faith and love of Jesus through Our Blessed Mother’s special instrument…Radio Maria. Tell all those you know and love about Radio Maria and spread the JOY!!!

PadreLivioDear friends, we are now at the beginning of a new year, a blank page of the human history to be written, but also and especially of our own life. Faith invites us to look at the future through the light of hope for the world was saved and Jesus is alive among us, with the invincible power  of his love. The presence of the Risen Christ makes us certain that evil will not win and that the last word is the one of good, life and truth.

The time given us by God is a precious gift to be well spent and not wasted. Every passing moment will never come back. It’s up to us, through daily fidelity, to write words of eternity. The first word to be printed in our hearts with indelible characters is “conversion“.  Time is given us to let us know, love and serve God. This is the only real purpose and goal of our lives.

To be converted means to put God first. Jesus must be our Love, our Teacher, and our Guide. Let us fix our sight towards the goal of eternity and,  day by day, let us advance on the path of salvation and joy. Let us walk together with Jesus and Mary and the whole Church,  in earth and in heaven.

Radio Maria is a voice calling for conversion. So many of you could bear witness. This is its identity and its reason for existing. It’s a voice sounding like a new Pentecost, in a concert made of peoples and languages, thanks to the missionary spirit animating it. Let us  proceed together with confidence in this wonderful path.

Yours Father Livio  – Priest Director of World Family of Radio Maria

October 29, 2014 – Do not let your hearts be troubled; believe in God

In difficult circumstances, do we ask enough questions of Our Lord? In John 14, three of his Apostles ask for greater clarification. We also may do this in our challenging circumstances. However, the peace that Our Lord wishes to bring to our hearts may more substantially come from our belief in God. To better encourage us, Jesus in John 14 gives us several assurances. He reminds us that “in my Father’s house there are many rooms”, that “I will come again and will take you to myself”, and that “if you ask anything in my name, I will do it”. This is all in the same chapter that begins “Do not let your hearts be troubled”. By believing ever more firmly in God, we may find that when things do not work out the way we want them to, we can count on God to bring some greater good.

August 19, 2014 – Grace -Actual & Sanctifying

Grace is a free gift from God that is necessary for our salvation. Are we responding to it? Grace enlightens the Mind and strengthens the Will. It also makes us friends of God. The amount and frequency of Grace we receive is up to us in how we do or not respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. We must always remember that mortal sin (our souls are separated entirely from God) and Sanctifying Grace are incompatible! Living a life in a state of Grace is indispensable for growth in holiness! These are huge stakes, and eternity is on the line. Now is the time to seek the paths of Grace and reap the gifts Our loving Lord has waiting for us.

August 12, 2014 – Devotion at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

What will we do with this golden opportunity to help secure eternal salvation? Today Joe talked about how we ought to prepare for Mass as well as how we ought to attend Mass. Recognizing that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the holiest act of worship we can perform, we must give it nothing less than our best!

July 30, 2014 – The Grace to Act Despite Our Feelings

Both in the Garden of Gethsemane and again while being interrogated by Caiaphas and Pilot, Jesus remains the master of his circumstances. By grace, we too can overcome our feelings that may rush upon us during important moments, or may have plagued us for years. Our feelings can prevent us from giving better witness to Christ with our lives. At times, we are not unlike Peter, both for better and for worse. However, we can see how in John 18 Jesus and Peter respond to their difficult circumstances. We can learn from this and draw the grace we need from Our Lord.

July 4, 2014 – Spiritual Tepidity

Joe discussed the dangers of spiritual tepidity, that halfhearted service to God which brings about spiritual death. The germs of laziness and worldliness will kill our soul. We must be mindful of the great sacrifice our loving Lord made for us in His Passion and Death. Our response ought to be one of enthusiastic loyalty and service to our Lord and His most holy will. At the end of the day, it is our eternal salvation that is at stake and nothing is more important or worth a greater sacrifice. Remember, that greatness’s holiness lies in not simply avoiding evil, but in doing good!

May 28, 2014 – Faith or Works or Both? – Fr. Jim Sullivan

Christine Watkins interviews Fr. Jim Sullivan, a popular guest on the What Next God? show, who shares how the Bible tells us that faith is all you need, but . . . God also wants works, shedding light on the age-old Catholic/Protestant dilemma.

July 14, 2013 – “I Must Be In My Father’s House”

Jesus’ Father is God. Therefore, He teaches that every child os God, teenagers included, must be close to the heart and house of God and do what God wants us to do.

January 23, 2013 – St. Paul Street Evangelization (Steve Dawson)

October 14, 2012 – Can God’s Plan Include Failure (Part 2)

In Part I of our discussion, “Can God’s Plan Include Failure?” we talked about how, when we repent and cooperate fully with the Lord, He overcomes any moral failures in our lives. This week we talked about other kinds of failures. For example, sometimes we think we have discerned God’s will, try our best to do it, but find that things are not working out very well. To solve this dilemma, we discussed at length an important principle of discernment that initially sounds a bit strange: God does not call us to discern what to do, but only to discern what to try. We also discussed the Year of Faith and the New Evangelization, a chance for the Church to implement the wonderful teachings of Vatican II as the Council Fathers intended. We challenged our listeners to step out in faith by sharing the faith with people they meet this week; We invited them to “call in” next Sunday to report back on how the Lord worked through them to reach people with the Good News! Next week we will conclude “Can God’s Plan Include Failure” and dive into the Year of Faith and the New Evangelization with our first call-in show!

September 16, 2012 – Will God’s Plan Make Me Happy?

This week on “Give God Permission” we respond to the question, “Will God’s Plan Make Me Happy?” We reflect on how choosing our own plan apart from God brings unnecessary suffering to ourselves and others, and ultimately makes us miserable. The good news is that it’s never too late to turn back to the Lord and embrace His awesome plan. Nancy, our invited guest, shares the story of how she discovered her beautiful vocation as wife and mother only after many unhappy years of running from the Lord and seeking her own plan. She describes her experience of God’s mercy after the trauma of abortion led her to become a sidewalk counselor at a local abortion facility. Nancy explains that the key to her conversion was a life-changing, personal encounter with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She bears witness to the truth that cultivating an ongoing, intimate relationship with Him through prayer and the sacraments is of utmost importance. Join us next week as we respond to a question we might find rising up in our own hears: “What About My Plan?” And spread the word! Invite your friends to join “Give God Permission” through word of mouth and the social media!

The Great Omission – August 22, 2012

As Christians we know that Jesus was sent by the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit to evangelize a fallen world with the Gospel of salvation. During his earthly ministry Jesus called and formed his disciples to join him in carrying out that very mission of making disciples of all nations. This holy obligation and sacred duty was not limited to the apostles but was intended for all believers and followers of Jesus Christ, regardless of their state in life. Sadly, not all Catholics recognize that by virtue of their baptism and Confirmation, they have been anointed and appointed to evangelize. Unfortunately for many, the “Great Commission” has become “The Great Omission”. In this episode of “Making Disciples” we will outline a basic theology of evangelization and begin to explore the reasons why so many Catholics fail to recognize their call to share Christ with others.
