Leatherby, whose Father changed dramatically due to a Marian apparition, and who himself almost died from a deadly car crash, when he was a seminarian, which disfigured his face terribly. Chris Padgett to Begin a Program on Radio Maria

Chris PadgettOn Wednesday, November 12, 2014, we will introduce a new program, Joyful Desperation, hosted by Chris Padgett. Chris identifies himself as a “very zealous” convert to Catholicism, who, along with his family, entered the Church in 1999. He is an author (Not Ready for Marriage, Not Ready for Sex: One Couple’s Return to Chastity), songwriter, musician (he has four solo albums to his credit), speaker, and worship leader. One of the most effective champions of family life in the church today, Chris can speak from experience. He and his family take the call to “make disciples” very seriously. Among other ministries, Chris is involved with Steubenville youth conferences and expertly speaks to young people about maintaining chastity in the midst of a culture that encourages otherwise. Join Chris on Wednesdays, at 2:00 p.m. Central/3:00 p.m. Eastern as he helps us face our sometimes desperate moments joyfully.

May 8, 2014 – Jennifer Fulwiler and Robert Ovies

Ken talks with Jennifer Fulwiler author of Something Other Than God: How I Passionately Sought Happiness and Accidently Found It and Robert Ovies author of The Rising (both by Ignatius Press) Raised in a happy, atheist home, Jennifer had the freedom to think for herself and play by her own rules. Asking the unflinching questions about life and death, good and evil, led Jennifer to Christianity, the religion she had reviled since she was an awkward, skeptical child growing up in the Bible Belt. In The Rising – When nine-year-old C.J. Walker touches the arm of his mother’s dead friend at her wake service and whispers the wish that she wouldn’t be dead, he’s just trying to do the right thing. But when the undertaker sees the woman’s rosary sliding off her outstretched fingers and tumbling down her raised left arm, the firestorm can’t be held in check.

September 11, 2012 – Christopher (Chris) Bell

Our Guest on the Quest today is Christopher (Chris) Bell the founder of 6 Good Counsel Maternity Homes in New York and New Jersey. I have asked Chris to reflect on his own 9/11 experience of that day as well as sharing with us his experience working with Father Benedict Groeschel to serve homeless pregnant women. Chris is married to Joan Andrews Bell, who can rightly be described as the archangel or patron saint (still alive, so not yet canonized) of the “rescue” movement based on numerous rescues and years of imprisonment. How they met and developed a love relationship is a most interesting part of today’s program.
