Tune in every Thursday at 9 am (Eastern Time) for the celebration of the Holy Mass live from St. Mary’s Church in Manhattan, Lower East Side

On December the 4th 2014, Radio Maria NY started broadcasting the 9 am Holy Mass live from St Mary’s Church in Manhattan, Lower East Side. We are glad to confirm our commitment to bring such a beautiful celebration to all of our listeners and wish to thank once again the congregation of St. Mary’s and its Pastor, Andrew O’Connor, for welcoming Radio Maria into their parish.

Father Andrew O’Connor
Father Andrew O’Connor

Besides being the third oldest Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of New York, St Mary’s Church is also headquartering Father O’Connor’s Goods of Conscience project:”an apparel line employing local craftspeople and importing wild cotton produced by Mayan Indian weavers who are paid a living wage, that fosters the “cycle of charity”, a process that includes becoming involved in the lives of the poor in a manner that respects and enhances the dignity of all parties involved in the transaction. As O’Connor explains on the Goods of Conscience website, it’s about fulfilling a vision of “a global network of interconnected, interdependent local, self-sustaining businesses—a global social fabric.”

September 9, 2014 – Vocations and Sin of Detraction

Joe talked the vocation shortage and what parents can do to solve this problem. IN the second half of the show, he then moved on to discuss the serious nature of the all too common serious sin of Detraction/Calumny.

September 02, 2014 – “I tried to kill myself!” Debbie Tells Her Story

“Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams apparently took his own life, law enforcement officials said.”

The world of entertainment was shocked by this posting three weeks ago. Interest in suicide quickly became super high. It seemed that every news program and talk show was talking about Robin Williams, his acting career, his personal life, and how/why he committed suicide.

Debbie is a personal friend, but I did not know of this part of her life. I know her as a wife, mother, and grandmother who is totally committed to life–living her own to the max, deeply in love with her family, and completely dedicated to ending abortion and creating a Culture of Life, especially in southwestern Ohio.

So, I was taken aback when she called and offered to tell her story on Radio Maria’s “The Quest for a Culture of Life in America”. I had to ask myself if this was a good topic for this program. I believe it is, if for no other reason than on average over 100 people kill themselves every day in the USA. There are Suicide Prevention Resources like the Hotline—> 800-273-8255 and web sites with stories and educational resources.

Another reason this topic is timely is the steady push for “assisted suicide” legislation and the sanctioning of medical insurance coverage for “end-of-life counseling”.

August 26, 2014 – National Day of Rememberance for Aborted Babies – Monica Miller, Eric Scheidler & Gary Anderson

Millions of our American children have been legally murdered in their mother’s wombs to satisfy a disordered craving for immoral sexual activity. Most of their bodies were flushed into urban sewage systems; their remains known but to God. But a precious few–their bodies rescued from dumpsters and garbage bags–have been dignified by burial in hallowed ground at sites scattered around our country.

Today, we call attention to these unwanted children who never nestled in their father’s arms or suckled at their mother’s breasts. Instead, they have been sacrificed on the alter of convenience, accommodated by the professions of medicine, law, and religion.

Our Guests today are Monica Miller (Citizens for a Pro-Life Society), Eric Scheidler ( Executive Director of Prolife Action League) and Gary Anderson (Culture of Life Director for Ohio Knights of Columbus).
Monica has rummaged through hundreds of dumpsters and buried the human remains of thousands of aborted children. She is the author of Abandoned, The Untold Story of the Abortion Wars.
Eric is a second generation activist leader of abortion mill presence, sidewalk-counseling, and a multitude of activities aimed at protecting women and children from the abortion scourge.
Gary represents the Knights of Columbus, an organization that has steadfastly supported pro-life for decades by providing free ultrasound machines to pregnancy support centers, and establishing a network of shrines that honor our aborted children.

July 2, 2014 – Acclaimed international expert on China’s One Child Policy–Mrs. Reggie Littlejohn

Christine Watkins interviews Reggie Littlejohn, who, in sharing her own compelling story from atheist to Catholic activist, exposes how girls are being targeted for death, just because they’re girls. Mrs. Littlejohn is a leading voice, battling forced abortion, gendercide (the sex-selective abortion of baby girls) and sexual slavery in China. Her organization, Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, is also saving lives through its “Save a Girl” campaign, which finds women in China, who are about to abort or abandon their baby girls, and convinces them to keep their daughters. June 10, 2014 – Robert Muckle

Robert Muckle is one of those long-time Pro-Life warriors that will be in the battle until we win or he goes to heaven. He has served CT Right to Life Corp for almost 40 years, holding offices and organizing the annual Waterbury bus to the March for Life all of that time.

Connecticut has played an important role in the effort to keep contraception illegal and thus slowing the march toward legalized abortion. Eventually it was the legal tangles in CT over their Comstock Laws that paved the way for Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton. It seems ironic that efforts to prevent contraceptive access would eventually provide the “privacy” legal arguments that would lead to the legalization of abortion on demand throughout the US.

On June 21st Waterbury Catholics (and hopefully others) will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of closing the Waterbury Birth Control Clinic on June 19th, 1939. How will they celebrate? What does this celebration portend for the future of the Catholic Church in America? Has America’s culture of death reached its zenith?

April 25, 2014 – Book Release– A Catechism for Business, tough ethical questions & insights from Catholic teaching

Guest – Joseph E. Capizzi, Ph.D.

Joe and Joseph discussed his exciting new book, (coauthored with Andrew V. Abela, Ph.D.). The main contribution of this book was to organize in one volume Church teaching of relevance to business and economics by topic and specific question. The unbiased nature of letting the documents speak for themselves is powerful!

Joe and Joseph’s enthusiastic discussion hit several high points such as: integration of our faith with our work, developing our conscience, just wage, finding happiness in business, and church’s role in business and economic theory.

The book is an indispensable tool for business men and women who desire to reach the next level of business and personal satisfaction.

February 26, 2014 – The Olympics, Peak Performance and Grace…

In considering how some athletes go beyond many people’s expectations, we can discover a motivation greater than personal recognition or even a gold medal. Fr. Greg Haake and I discuss how these special athletes and their incredible results are often lifted by a higher good. In this lies the key. We discuss how to perform at our best under pressure, whether an athlete or worker or as one friend to another. We consider a reference in Scripture and many other practical examples to show that in selflessness lies the power to perform with greatness.

August 20, 2013 – Dr. Mary Davenport

The triennial meeting of the MWIA, Medical Women’s International Association, an organization started in 1919, was held three weeks ago in Seoul, Korea. Three AAPLOG (America Assn of Pro-Life Obstetricians & Gynecologists) women were scheduled presenters. Drs Donna Harrison, Mary Davenport, both ObGyns, and Dr. Martha Shuping, a psychiatrist flew to Seoul for the meeting, but at the last moment, they were informed their sessions would be cancelled. Why? Their presentations were cancelled because they did not support the pro-abortion ideology of the meeting’s organizers.

What happened next was quite astonishing. Be sure to listen–at radio maria.us –as Dr Mary will be our Guest on “The Quest for a Culture of Life in America” Tuesday at Noon ET.

She will describe her personal conversions to NFP-Only, Natural Procreative Technology, and the the Roman Catholic faith. She is the immediate past president of AAPLOG and can tell us about that organization.

But, we mainly want to hear how the Holy Spirit orchestrated the banning of their presentations to a small group of MWIA attendees so that their message could be heard all over the world. Lesson #1: The Holy Spirit will take the ball and run with it if allowed in the game. So, do your part–listen to that small voice encouraging you to do something that will advance the Culture of Life.

Just do it; the Holy Spirit will do most of the actual work!

Mary will synopsize the three presentations; all addressed the harm caused to women by abortion:
Donna Harrison’s presentation demonstrated that nations with laws protective of mothers and unborn babies have excellent maternal mortality statistics. Ireland is a classic example
Mary Davenport had a talk about abortion as a risk factor for pre-term birth, the cause of 15 million neonatal deaths each year internationally. Mary travels extensively to gather data and present the facts of abortions harm.
Martha Shuping had a presentation that included two case reports of women who suffered severe psychological harm from abortion, even though they had obvious risk factors that were not discussed in the informed consent process.

August 13, 2013 – Alan Parker

Alan Parker is the attorney president of San Antonio based The Justice Foundation (TJF) offering free legal representation to those whose fundamental freedoms and rights are being threatened. He serves as the lead legal counsel for Norma McCorvey (“Jane Roe” of Roe vs Wade) and Sandra Cano (“Mary Doe” of Doe vs Bolton) and is advancing the Culture of Life in America in a variety of ways, including fighting for parents rights in the education of their children.

TJF’s “Center Against Forced Abortion” offers letters to parents, fathers, and abortionists to discourage forcing or coercing girls into having an abortion. These have saved thousands of lives and can be used by you to give to a minor girl, her parents, teachers/counselors/pastors or anyone who may try to convince her to abort. She alone has the right to choose; that’s the law. The letters are available at www.TheJusticeFoundation.org.

I also expect to ask Alan about the future of abortion in America. With tougher restrictions becoming increasingly common, we are seeing more abortion facilities close each month. Are we really winning the fight for LIFE?

Another TJF project is collecting the testimonies of aborted women who wish they had NOT aborted their son or daughter. These powerful human stories are being used to convince legislators and voters that abortion should not be an option because it causes depression, grief, regret, suicide, and severe health problems for the mothers–and of course, killS their children.

July 16, 2013 – Kevin Burke

The abortion debate and focus is typically on the baby and mother. But what about fathers of children who mom wants to abort? They may be encouraging the abortion, discouraging, or neutral. And how do they feel after the dastardly deed?

Kevin Burke is Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life focused on ministry to fathers. This is what he says about what he does:
One of the saddest correspondences or phone calls I deal with, is a father who is devastated because his partner, girlfriend, fiancé or wife had an abortion…without ever telling him about the procedure…until it is too late. It is heart breaking, and with what we know about how this impacts men, its also a really serious mental health and spiritual crisis that requires immediate help if the man is open to that. I wanted to share how I respond to these situations. Each one is unique so there is no set formula. You are just trying with the Lord’s help, to reach out and connect man to man (woman to man) with his heart and soul and keep the momentum of reaching out for help…to keep that momentum moving forward. Isolation with this kind of pain, is very bad.

June 11, 2013 – Steven Ertelt

Steven Ertelt’s pro-life credentials run deep–National Right to Life Committee,Students for Life of America, Indiana Right to Life, Montana Right to Life and Colorado Citizens for Life. Please join Steven and Steve (me) to learn what the latest developments are in a rapidly changing culture dominated by government attacks on life, family, religion, privacy, health and marriage. How can we respond? Isn’t government supposed to serve the people?

April 16, 2013 – Professor J Budziszewski

He has taught Government (ethics, political philosophy, and various other subjects) at the University of Texas in Austin since receiving his PhD form Yale in 1981.

He is celebrating nine years of being Catholic. He is a prolific writer on tolerance, self-deception, virtue ethics, sex and marriage–all topics that impact our current culture. I’m confidant that you will find him a most interesting Guest on the Quest.
