Unfailing Prayer to St. Anthony

St. Anthony Cream Card

“Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints”

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints,
your love for God and Charity for His creatures,
made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers.
Encouraged by this thought,
I implore you to obtain for me (request).
O gentle and loving St. Anthony,
whose heart was ever full of human sympathy,
whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus,
who loved to be folded in your arms;
and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary

Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother,
to your Immaculate Heart we consecrate ourselves,
in an act of total  to the Lord.
By You we will be led to Christ.
By Him and with Him we will be led to the Father.
We will walk in the light of faith, and we will do everything
so that the world may believe that Jesus Christ is the One sent by the Father.

With Him we wish to carry His Love and Salvation to the ends of the earth.
Under the protection of your Immaculate Heart,
we will be one People with Christ.
We will be witnesses of His Resurrection.

January 12, 2015 – St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi

What is your favorite phrase to refer to Jesus: Son of God, the Christ, the King, or perhaps Lord. For St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi, a Carmelite Mystic who lived from the late 1500’s to the early 1600’s, the favorite way of referring to Jesus was simply the Word. For her ‘the Word’ described Jesus, and for her the Word was simply Love. Jesus represented the Word spoken by Father, and that Word was Love. In this conversation Mark and Frances explore the details of the life of St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi. During her lifetime she had a number of encounters with God the Father and with the Lord Jesus. During these ecstatic encounters Mary Magdalene de Pazzi received a number of profound insights about the nature of our relationship with God the Father and the depth of the sacrifice made by our Lord. Most importantly, St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi’s entire life was a model of what she heard from the voice of the Father and witnessed in the life of the Son our Lord and Savior.

January 7, 2015 – Through Surrender, Jacob Gives Rise to Israel

Jacob begins life as the “supplanter”. However, he ends it as the root of the great nation of Israel. After “stealing” the blessing prepared for his brother Esau, Jacob goes into exile. This leads to an encounter with God. God then accompanies Jacob and blesses him, and Jacob increasingly opens his heart to God. The decisive confrontations with his uncle Laban and Esau, reveal a greatly changed Jacob. In a final moment of surrender, when wrestling with God, Jacob becomes a new man. This new man God names Israel and the nation is born. Are we still withholding our surrender?

April 16, 2014 – Does Happiness Require Self-Assertion?

Jesus, and many others in Sacred Scripture suggest that our greater good, joy and happiness comes from being obedient to the Father. When we are in harmony with the person God created us to be, and when we draw closer to our Creator, we closely connect with our greatest source of happiness. Able’s brother Cain was not happy at God’s disregard for his half-hearted offering. Jacob’s son Joseph was happy obeying, even when it was not easy for him. Samson, under pressure, separated himself from God. After significant suffering, he later repents and God’s strength returns to him. Jesus prays for strength and chooses His Father’s will over his own in the Garden of Gethsemane, then saves all the world. We are invited to unite our crosses to Our Lord’s and to pray for the strength to return to him in ways great and small.

Francesca Franchina, MS Ed. Radio Maria Ohio Programming and program presenter, continues discussion with Jack Davis, retired expert communications executive, focusing on the happenings and remarks by the Council who decided to turn Jesus over to Pilate to die on the Cross by Crucifixion accusing Him of blasphemy. Hear the conversations and steps leading up to Jesus being condemned to death, and what the Blessed Mother Mary, Mother of Jesus, St. John the Evangelist and the three Marys were doing, seeing and saying at this time. Early on Good Friday Jesus was in a dungeon at Caiphas’ house being tortured and taunted by the soldiers. Jesus was pummeled and spat upon, fettered and roped, described and dictated by Jesus’ Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary and communicated to and written by a Spanish nun, Sr. Mary of Agreda in The Mystical City of God: The Divine History and Life of The Virgin Mother of God. March 26, 2014 – Our Lady of Sorrows

The Church has honored Our Lady of Sorrows since the 13th century. What may we learn from this devotion? In short, not only may we come to understand that the Mother of God suffered during her life, but that our own suffering can have great merit. We become more like Christ and draw closer to his embrace when we “deny ourselves and take up our crosses” (Luke 9: 23). My guest, Deacon Dominic Peloso from the Archdiocese of San Francisco, shares the origin of this devotion, insights into Our Lady’s life, and the opportunities suffering can bring each of us. He also makes a connection with Our Lady’s apparitions in Kibeho, Rwanda in the 1980s. There, as in Fatima, Our Lady encourages us to pray the holy Rosary for the graces we need during our trials.

February 11, 2014 – Msgr Charles Mangan, Director of the Marian Apostolate for the Diocese of Sioux Falls, SD

May 23, 2013 – Robert Spencer and Marge Fenelon

Ken’s first guest is Robert Spencer author of Not Peace But A Sword – The Great Chasm Between Christianity And Islam (Catholic Answers) Some Christians view Islam as a sister religion, a branch of the same Abrahamic tree—lacking the fullness of revelation but nonetheless a religion of peace. Others are more critical of Islamic teachings but still see Muslims as valuable partners in the global fight against secularization and the Culture of Death. Robert Spencer argues they’re both wrong—and warns Christians against the danger of thinking that Islam is an easy ally. To learn more about Robert visit: www.jihadwatch.org His book is available at shop.catholic.com
Ken’s second guest is Marge Fenelon author of Imitating Mary – Ten Marian Virtues for the Modern Mom. In this first and only book to offer Mary’s life as a template for living as a faithful Catholic mother today, the Mother of God is presented as the ideal guide for the vocation of Catholic motherhood. Reasons to Believe with Fr. Terry Donahue

We live in a moment of history where our society is facing a crisis of faith, where according to Pope Benedict XVI, “God is disappearing from the human horizon… with increasingly evident destructive effects” (Letter of March 10, 2009). Catholics are falling away. Youth in particular are questioning their faith. Newspaper headlines attack core Christian beliefs.

During this Year of Faith, it’s time to get equipped with Reasons to Believe so that you can share the truth of the Catholic faith in a charitable and convincing manner. You will learn…
– Arguments for God’s existence from philosophy, human experience and modern day miracles.
– How to respond to common objections from relativism, atheism and non-Christian religions.
– How to reconcile the Biblical account of Creation with modern discoveries of science such as the Big Bang and evolutionary biology.
– How to defend the reliability of Scripture, the Resurrection of Jesus, and the extraordinary claims of Christ to be Messiah and Son of God.

Tune in each week and get “prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Pet 3:15).
