As the broadcast engineer for the southern region, Danny Brou oversees the maintenance and operation of the transmitters sites in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi.
Danny has been with Radio Maria the longest of all of the staff and was even involved in the early setup of Radio Maria before the first station ever went on the air.
Danny brings his many years of experience and wisdom to help keep Radio Maria broadcasting. We are so grateful that Danny is always there to give of his time and knowledge to bring Our Lady’s radio to as many people as possible.
Frank has been with Radio Maria since it’s early days. He was introduced to Radio Maria in late 2000 when there was a need for someone to fill in for a departing employee within a short time. Frank comes from a long background of radio having grown up spending many hours in and around radio stations with his father, a broadcast engineer.
Before beginning his work at Radio Maria, Frank was heavily involved in ministry teams in the diocese of Alexandria volunteering his knowledge of sound equipment and recording, a work he continues to this day.
As the Production Manager, Frank oversees the production department and all of the technical and logistical work that goes into getting the radio signal from the microphones to the radio transmitters. Frank’s work also extends into all things technical in the workings of Radio Maria. Whether is be building and maintaining the website, repairing computers and equipment or changing light bulbs, Frank is always there to help Our Lady’s radio in any way he can.
Larry comes to us with 20+ years of radio experience. He deals with everything connected with the smooth running of our broadcasts by overseeing soundboard operations, assisting in updating and maintaining music selections, and most specially, assisting the presenters and their guests in preparing for their weekly programs. Larry was originally recruited as a volunteer to help air Masses over Radio Maria on the weekends. Once he became involved with the Mass broadcasts, he recognized how important Radio Maria’s ministry was, especially to shut in’s and those who could not go to Mass themselves. Soon, he felt led to continue and expand his work for the ministry, and joined Radio Maria as a staff member in August, 2012. As an extra blessing to us, when he’s not working, he volunteers extra hours to Radio Maria in his free time. Prior to coming onboard with Radio Maria, Larry was the Finance Director for an area car dealership, and is a well-known personality through-out the Alexandria, Louisiana area.
As one of our Production Assistants, Julie-Clare is an immense asset to the Radio Maria family. She graduated from a local Alexandria college with honors and a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Communications in 2010. She was introduced to Radio Maria through Kathie Duggan (host of Sacred Treasures) in the very early days of the station, and at the age of 13, she was behind the scenes volunteering on the audio board, helping to air live prayers and programs. Ever since those early days of Radio Maria, she had a fascination with radio and media. While in the final semesters of college, she was given two radio programs on campus, and co-hosted a news show at another station. Julie-Clare believes God led her back to Radio Maria in 2012. Since her return, she has expertly handled the many components of producing a seamless radio program. Radio Maria is blessed to have Julie-Clare in the family.
Radio Maria will introduce a new program on Sunday, October 19, 2014. Catholic Kaleidoscope, hosted by Alyssa Bormes, will be airing at 1:00 p.m. Central/2:00 p.m. Eastern. Alyssa holds a Master’s degree in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She is the author of The Catechism of Hockey, in which she uses the metaphor of hockey and sports devotion to explain the responsibility of Catholic parents to raise their children in the teachings of the Church. Currently, she is the Assistant to the President of The American Chesterton Society. In her spare time, she is a popular speaker and retreat leader on a range of Catholic topics, and is known for her gift of igniting a newfound sense of wonder in the church using storytelling, humor and analogy. Alyssa truly has a “kaleidoscope” of gifts to offer our Radio Maria listeners.
You will be able to find archives of the program at: http://radiomaria.us/catholickaleidoscope/
On Friday, October 10, 2014, a new program began on Radio Maria. Passion: The Word of God, hosted by Fr. John Murray, will be airing every other Friday, at 10:00 a.m. Central/11:00 a.m. Eastern. Father Murray comes to us from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, in Brooklyn, New York. He will take us through the Liturgical year with interesting Scriptural topics, dealing with them in a “Catholic” way. The sessions will be interesting, and even fun, because Father plans to have a live audience of young adults. After his talk, he will encourage questions from the group, then have them make the topic relevant to their age. Father Murray has a miraculous personal story of his own. In 2010, while walking on the boardwalk on the Jersey Shore, he fell, hit his head, and was instantly paralyzed from his chest down. He was told that he had no chance of “any voluntary movement.” By the grace of God, he is now walking with the help of a rollator, drives his own vehicle, and continues to preach Missions and retreats. We are proud to have Fr. John Murray onboard with our Radio Maria family.
The archives of the program can be found at http://radiomaria.us/passionthewordofgod/
Radio Maria is a tool of evangelization which serves the Catholic Church in the United States, as a radio network committed to calling for conversion through programming which offers plenty of space for prayer, catechism and human development.
The World Mariathon, organised by the World Family of Radio Maria Association (www.radiomaria.org), is scheduled to take place from the 10th to 12th of May. It will involve listeners of Radio Maria stations worldwide in the evangelising mission that has characterised this Catholic broadcasting station for more than twenty five years.
It will be an important radio event with a special continental and world programming schedule to inform listeners of the new projects that the World Family has launched around the world. The opportunity will be provided to support them through offerings and donations according to the methods provided by the individual broadcasting stations or directly on the event’s website (www.mariathon.org).
“We are entrusted with a great responsibility: to spread the evangelical message and develop the Radio Maria projects worldwide. The idea of the World Mariathon came up during the World Convention in Collevalenza last October. It is a spiritual and editorial event targeted at the birth of 11 new radio stations in Europe, Africa and Asia”
– Fr. Livio Fanzaga and Emanuele Ferrario

The event will serve as an aggregator for all the 64 member radios, for a broadcasting station which reaches almost half a billion people worldwide.
Radio Maria will have two new programs starting the weekend of August 4th.
On Saturday, August 4 Stephanie Mann will begin a program entitled “The English Reformation Today” at 2pm Central time.
