January 22, 2014 – Defending Life – Marching in Washington and San Francisco

Let us not underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Samuel 16, we see that “the Spirit of the Lord came upon David”. We also know that David, in this “Spirit of God” and without armor, defeats a mighty warrior who is heavily armed. Is this not remarkable? In 2 Timothy 1, the Spirit is given to Timothy by the “laying on of hands”. Afterward, Timothy receives the spirit of power and love and self-control. With the same Holy Spirit, three guests on this program discuss how they have each chosen to defend life. They also share their experiences from the 41st. March for Life in Washington DC and founding of the Walk for Life in San Francisco. These champions began with modest goals, and by God’s grace and the help of other believers, have done much for the cause of life!

April 1, 2013

In this particular program Mark and Frances discuss the simply yet remarkable life of a Secular Carmelite from Spain named Josefa Naval Girbes who lived from 1820 – 1893. Blessed Josefa lived a perfectly simple life, opening her home as a school for embroidery. She used the quiet hours of labor to instruct her young female students about the Catholic faith. She was well known for instructing her girls that their primary mission in life should be to “sanctify yourself and sanctify others.” Despite her remarkable simplicity, she had a very disciplined approach to her pursuit of holiness, and is also remembered for her rather direct counsel to “Reach holiness, no matter what the Cost.” This simple woman, who chose to live in the world, perfectly fulfilled God’s will by living a life of holiness, but also by bearing remarkable fruit in helping so many others to pursue a life in Union with God.

August 30, 2012 – Dr. Mary Healy, STD, Professor at Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, MI, Co-Author of the book: “Baptism in the Holy Spirit” (ICCRS Doctrinal Commission)

Kathleen Beckman and Dr. Mary Healy discuss article# 17 in JPII’s encyclical “Ecclesia de Eucahristia” that states, “By the gift of his body and blood Christ increases within us the gift of his Spirit. They dialogue about the the grace called “baptism in the Holy Spirit” and how, in the words of Saint Ephrem, “He who eats his living body, he who eats it with faith, eats Fire and Spirit!” With each worthy reception of Holy Communion, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. How are we changed by this gift of God?
