Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother,
to your Immaculate Heart we consecrate ourselves,
in an act of total  to the Lord.
By You we will be led to Christ.
By Him and with Him we will be led to the Father.
We will walk in the light of faith, and we will do everything
so that the world may believe that Jesus Christ is the One sent by the Father.
With Him we wish to carry His Love and Salvation to the ends of the earth.
Under the protection of your Immaculate Heart,
we will be one People with Christ.
We will be witnesses of His Resurrection.
By Him we will be led to the Father,
for the glory of the Most Holy Trinity,
Whom we adore, praise and bless forever. Amen.
During this program Deacon Bob discusses the tremendous emphasis Our Lady placed on praying the rosary every day, and our dependence on Our Lady of the Rosary for world peace.
In addition, he explains the “liturgical nature” of the rosary and offers some considerations for those who have abandoned it because they find it monotonous.
The August, 1917 apparition is the focus of today’s program. Deacon Bob suggests the day is near when the practice of our Faith will lead to our persecution and even threaten our very lives. He lauds, as an example for each of us during such times, the courage and heroism of the 3 little shepherd children in the face of kidnapping, imprisonment and even the threat of death. Great emphasizes the importance of their having remained faithful to Our Lady’s fundamental Fatima requests. Finally he discusses the significance of Our Lady’s instructions with regard to the money people had begun to leave at the sight of the apparitions.
Christine Watkins interviews Fr. Leatherby, whose Father changed dramatically due to a Marian apparition, and who himself almost died from a deadly car crash, when he was a seminarian, which disfigured his face terribly. By the grace of God, he was saved through a series of miraculous moments. Fr. Another important feast associated with the Order of Carmel, and dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, is the Feast of Our Lady, Mother of Divine Grace. This week Mark and Frances discuss the brief history of this important Feast, and the unique role that Our Blessed Mother plays in dispensing grace to the Church. They also discuss a very unique image of Our Blessed Mother known as the Lady of the Bowed Head. This image has its own unique story, which they discuss, and they also touch on an important Carmelite Venerable who is directly associated with this image. Again, for anyone who wishes to learn more about the Blessed Mother’s role as dispenser of grace, this is an important conversation.
The Church has honored Our Lady of Sorrows since the 13th century. What may we learn from this devotion? In short, not only may we come to understand that the Mother of God suffered during her life, but that our own suffering can have great merit. We become more like Christ and draw closer to his embrace when we “deny ourselves and take up our crosses” (Luke 9: 23). My guest, Deacon Dominic Peloso from the Archdiocese of San Francisco, shares the origin of this devotion, insights into Our Lady’s life, and the opportunities suffering can bring each of us. He also makes a connection with Our Lady’s apparitions in Kibeho, Rwanda in the 1980s. There, as in Fatima, Our Lady encourages us to pray the holy Rosary for the graces we need during our trials.
Our study of Marian apparitions continues with this week’s Guest, Dan Lynch, founder of Dan Lynch Apostolates, promoting devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of America, Jesus King of All Nations, and Blessed John Paul II. Dan travels throughout the states presenting missions, promoting and conducting Image Visitations of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of America. He and Sue live in Vermont; they have nine children and 20 grandchildren.
Today, we want primarily to learn more about Our Lady of America, the Immaculate Virgin. Dan’s book, Our Lady of America, Hope for the States is an excellent summary of information about Our Lady of America, the seer Sister Mary Ephrem (later Mildred Neuzil), Our Lady’s statue, medal, requests, and promises–including that more graces will be bestowed on the United States than all the graces from Lourdes and Fatima IF her wishes are granted!
Major ownership issues have slowed promotion of Our Lady of America. These legal issues have to do with copyright and trademarking of Our Lady of America devotional materials that resulted in an Indianapolis Federal Court trial from January 21st until the jury decision last week. The Final Judgment by Judge William T. Lawrence is expected any day. Kevin McCarthy is one of the plaintiffs (with Al Langsenkamp) in that case. Wayne speaks about his introduction to Medjugorje. He was moved by this event from disbelief, to believing and acceptance. Amazingly, following this curious encounter, he completely changed his life. No longer would he be in the newspaper/printing business, but would be working for Our Lady, spreading her messages from Medjugorje. Today, Wayne has published 8 books on Medjugorje with copies in the many millions distributed throughout the world. Wayne also shares that his latest book, “Medjugorje: The Last Apparition”, underscores the spiritual motherhood that Our Lord offers us through Mary. This program offers a perspective on Medjugorje. What was it like before the apparitions began, and what happened during the first few days? Several children in Medjugorje began, quite unexpectedly, to see Our Lady. She had come, she said, “to tell us that God exists, and that he loves us.” Their own families, however, did not believe them. Nevertheless, what began with 6 children has grown to touch millions. Our Lady, through this village of 400 families, has today hosted over 40 million pilgrims from around the world since 1981! Millions of hearts have been re-kindled in their faith. Three young guests on this program share their experience from a recent pilgrimmage to Medjguroje. They also encourage other young people to go to Medjugorje to renew their own faith!
Why Mary? Why honor Mary? Why go to Mary? Why pray to her, asking her to intercede for us? To answer these questions we must understand who Mary is and what her place is in God’s loving plan of redemption and salvation. In explaining who Mary is and her singular role, I will discuss basic teachings on Our Lady; e.g., the four Marian dogmas, Mary’s spiritual Motherhood in the order of grace, her Queenship, etc, and discuss what our response should be to these truths about her.
In our world today, there can be found considerable skepticism, doubt and even disbelief that supernatural things, things from heaven, can occur here on earth. This also can be our reaction when we hear reports of Our Lady’s visit to Medjugorje. However, I invite listeners to consider the background to these events, and other facts, with an open mind and heart, before coming to their own conclusion. In this program I discuss when the apparitions began and what the vililage of Medjugorje was like at the time. You will also hear a little about the visionaries and the reason Our Lady is coming to us. I excerpt from a report given, at Our Lady’s request, by Fr. Tomislav Vlasic to the Pope John Paul II in 1983 or 1984. Finally, I conclude with some facts about today, for example the graciousness of the villagers despite their community being inundated with pilgrms. The villagers themselves give powerful witness to appearance of Our Lady their.

Francesca shares her favorite family recipe for Italian Wedding Soup.
Recipe: Italian Wedding Soup
Ingredients
Soup: 6 Cups – Chicken Broth 1/2 Cup – Uncooked Soup Pasta 2 Cups – Thinly Sliced Escarole or Spinach Baby
Baby Meat Balls: In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients and then hand roll into 3/4 inch balls.
Soup: Strain 6 cups homemade chicken broth into another pan; reserve chicken to pull apart in small pieces to put into the soup or use for another recipe. You can also use canned chicken broth (46 ounce can) or powdered chicken soup starter which is very good in a hurry to make six cups!
Bring broth to a boil, drop in formed meatballs, ½ cup uncooked soup pasta and 2 cups thinly sliced escarole or spinach.
Cook at slow boil about ten minutes till pasta is cooked (not drowned or mushy but al dente) Stir frequently with wooden spoon so pasta and meatballs don’t get beat up! Ladle into bowls, Serve as a prima piatta (first dish/ soup course) with grated cheese at the table or as a meal with crusty Italian bread/dipping oil and salada verde. Bon Pranzo!
