Francesca Franchina, MS Ed. talks with Dr.Benjamin Keyes, Ph.D; Ed.D,Psychotherapist, Pastor and Professor in the School of Psychology and Counseling at Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA and Chair of the Association of Christian Therapists Psychotherapist Specialty Group (www.actheals.org). Dr. Keyes has written books, articles and been published in numerous professional journals including ACT’s Journal of Christian Healing.
Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSS) affects many people suffering the effects of trauma on the body,mind and spirit of all age groups; war veterans, victims of terrorism, catastrophic weather calamities, sex and drug trafficking, addictions, and abuse situations. Professor Keyes not only teaches graduate students, he teaches and trains medical and allied health professionals, first responders, clergy and students throughout the world. Prayer is included in the treatment/healing process and Dr. Keyes speaks about his experiences in recent trips to treat aftermath victims in the Philippines, Haiti and Lebanon to train priests and NGOs to work with Syrian Survivors of Chemical Genocide and War (December 2013);and the upcoming trip to Romania with Regent U Graduate Students for work with gypsy and underprivileged populations. The recipient of many awards for his professional achievements as well as community endeavors, Dr. Keyes is over-the-top able as well as amiable and offers us his vast experience in professional development and acumen coupled with highly effective Christian approaches to dealing with traumatology encompassing inner healing,spiritual healing, physical and mental illness.
