May 14, 2014 – How do we discern our vocation? –Seminarian Michael Liliedahl

Christine Watkins interviews Michael Liliedahl, who e us on a tour of his personal calling in life, using the acronym G.O.D: looking at one’s Gifts, the comments of Others, and one’s innermost Desires. March 26, 2014 – Our Lady of Sorrows

The Church has honored Our Lady of Sorrows since the 13th century. What may we learn from this devotion? In short, not only may we come to understand that the Mother of God suffered during her life, but that our own suffering can have great merit. We become more like Christ and draw closer to his embrace when we “deny ourselves and take up our crosses” (Luke 9: 23). My guest, Deacon Dominic Peloso from the Archdiocese of San Francisco, shares the origin of this devotion, insights into Our Lady’s life, and the opportunities suffering can bring each of us. He also makes a connection with Our Lady’s apparitions in Kibeho, Rwanda in the 1980s. There, as in Fatima, Our Lady encourages us to pray the holy Rosary for the graces we need during our trials.

January 22, 2014 – Defending Life – Marching in Washington and San Francisco

Let us not underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Samuel 16, we see that “the Spirit of the Lord came upon David”. We also know that David, in this “Spirit of God” and without armor, defeats a mighty warrior who is heavily armed. Is this not remarkable? In 2 Timothy 1, the Spirit is given to Timothy by the “laying on of hands”. Afterward, Timothy receives the spirit of power and love and self-control. With the same Holy Spirit, three guests on this program discuss how they have each chosen to defend life. They also share their experiences from the 41st. March for Life in Washington DC and founding of the Walk for Life in San Francisco. These champions began with modest goals, and by God’s grace and the help of other believers, have done much for the cause of life!

July 10, 2013 – Great Reasons for Marriage Between 1 Man and 1 Woman

This program considers a “great good” as proposed by San Francisco’s Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, a good coming from marriage between one man and one woman. He shares his experience with inner city families, most of whom are devastated by the absence of the father. The program also invites listeners to ask a difficult question: Is it reasonable to trust the Church on its teaching regarding homosexual unions? Fundamentally, we must each answer this question if we are to help bring that “great good” to our society that Our Lord desires!

July 17, 2012 – Fr. Juan Velez

Steve’s guest on this program was Fr. Juan Velez, a San Francisco priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei. He has an article in the One More Soul “Obey Mandate or Scripture” newspaper challenge to the HHS mandate, which we will be discussing along with the Bishops’ “Religious Liberty, Our Most Cherished Freedom” article.
