July 15, 2014 – “Have A Heart For The Next Generation”

We have multiple Guests to share their part in “Have A Heart For The Next Generation” — local adults and young people who have a heart for preborn children and want to learn how to stop the killing of their younger brothers and sisters in the Lord. From Dayton, we are expecting Paul Coudron from Dayton Right to Life, Ryan Mahle and Katie Pfeifer, Archbishop Altar HS, and hopefully Bob and Vivian Skovgard

We will also have those from outside the Dayton community who are here to lead the event–Wendy Wright and the Scott and Kathy Heldreth family of 8 children who have traveled all the way from Texas to help educate and train the Dayton “young” and “young at heart”. Wendy is a veteran pro-life leader who “went from Bible College to jail to invitations to the White House”. She is VP of C-FAM (they monitor the often anti-life/family activities at the UN) and a former president of Concerned Women for America.

I am very eager to learn more about “Have A Heart . . .” and these totally committed people who are making a commitment to the culture of life in Dayton.

One day forces beyond his control start a cascade of misfortune that leaves him blind and nearly destitute. February 4, 2014 – Dr. Paul Byrne

Dr. Paul Byrne is a pediatrician and neonatologist from Toledo who early in his career pioneered the development of ventilators and other medical devices tailored to children born pre-term.

He is also a world renowned expert on, and opponent of, “brain death” for determining actual death, and has spoken and testified in numerous venues including several courts of law and the Vatican. So, Dr Paul is the perfect mix of pediatrician and brain death expert to help us understand two recent situations, including his personal intervention for the parents of Jahi–the 13 year-old California girl who had cardiac arrest during a tonsillectomy and was declared brain dead by hospital staff. But her parents challenged their diagnosis, and with assistance from Dr Byrne, were able to have Jahi transferred to a medical facility that would insert a feeding tube to prevent starvation.

Another current case from Texas has a pregnant woman on life support to save her baby, as required by Texas law. But her husband sued the hospital insisting that life support be withdrawn, thus terminating both the mother and baby. A judge ruled in the husband’s favor. Mother and daughter are now deceased.
